Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen and her ex-husband, Clive Owen, purchased a dilapidated cottage near their farm in the Yorkshire Dales before their split. The former couple, who were married for over two decades and welcomed nine children, applied to renovate the Grade II listed building back in 2020.

Previously, the big family’s day-to-day escapades were shared on Our Yorkshire Farm, which wrapped in 2022 after Amanda and Clive called time on their marriage. Despite the split, the duo continue to co-parent and work on the farm together – which is shown on Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.

Their farmhouse, known as Anty Johns to the locals, is the subject of the new show and the ex couple and their friends work to bring the ramshackle building back to life. It’s been five years since they took the project on and the progress has been slow and steady.

Thankfully, fans are able to see updates on the show as well as on the Yorkshire Shepherdess’ Instagram page. Some of the works included resetting the roof, getting the electricity working and much more.

Amanda and Clive have plans to convert the old cottage into a four-bedroom home. It is understood they’re looking to include a living room, a dairy service room, a lounge and a kitchen/dining room, as well as the usual utility rooms. and bedrooms.

The Channel 4 star even said the Grade II listed property is a “very solid foundation for something for the children”. Anty Johns, which has an attached barn, was empty for 60 years before the Owens bought it. It dates to the early 18th century. When they purchased the property, it was because the family wanted a permanent home as Ravenseat is a tenanted property.

In an interview with BBC Radio York, Amanda revealed she didn’t know who would move into the home, situated in the Swaledale parish of Muker, a short distance from the Ravenseat farm.

“I have plenty of people who are vying to move in,” she said. With how slow the renovations are going, Amanda once said she felt “helpless” with it as there wasn’t much she could do to help.

“We come back and it’s like, ‘What’s been done? A few more slate [roof tiles]’,” she said in October 2024. “I’m getting messages from electricians and heating engineers and, of course, Phillip the joiner. They want to know [when they can start]. I need it to move in.”

Episodes of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids are now re-airing on Channel 4, with each episode showcasing the family dealing with renovations and reflecting on their relationships.

Channel 4 officially confirmed that season two of the programme is coming shortly, with fans hoping they “don’t have to wait too long”.

In a previous episode, Amanda got her tribe together for a poignant snap in the latest instalment of the More4 programme.

“I wanted to get all the family together, to get a photograph standing on the hillside with Anty John’s there in the background,” said the mum-of-nine.

“Six girls, three boys. All looking roughly tidy and ready for a photoshoot. And we’ve even got a little bit of decent weather. It’s great to have the whole gang back.”

This photo means a lot to the Yorkshire Shepherdess, especially since some of her eldest are on the brink of flying the nest. Amanda candidly spoke about the mixed feelings, remarking: “We’ll see the kids growing up and going their own way and we’ll also see the house evolving as well.”
