Jack P Shepherd’s love life – affair scandal, love child, and upcoming wedding

Coronation Street’s David Platt, played by Jack P Shepherd, has been at the heart of some of the soap’s most dramatic plots. T Off-screen, the actor’s love life has seen its fair share of ups and downs too.

The 35-year-old star, who first stepped into David’s shoes in 2000, has a rich acting portfolio that includes theatre productions and roles in other ITV and BBC shows, such as West Side Story and Oliver. Away from the spotlight, he’s found romance with his Corrie co-worker, Hanni Treweek, who used to work on the show as a storyline writer and researcher.

Despite being head over heels for each other and planning to hit all of life’s ‘big milestones’ together, Jack’s romantic history hasn’t always been plain sailing. He was unfaithful to his former fiancée, Lauren Shippey, with whom he has two children, back in 2010 and reportedly fathered a third child with the woman he had an affair with, Sammy Milewsk.

Jack is currently gearing up to head into the Celebrity Big Brother house as the brand-new series kicks off on Monday, April 7. The soap star will be joined by the likes of Mickey Rourke, Jojo Siwa, Chris Hughes, and Donna Preston. Ahead of his Celebrity Big Brother debut, here, we take a look into his love life.

Hanni Treweek

Jack and Hanni’s romance didn’t quite ignite on set, but rather at a mutual friend’s wedding, where Jack made Hanni laugh and they exchanged flirtatious banter. According to the Daily Star, Jack recalled: “We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it.”

Then, a chance encounter at their local Sainsbury’s led to texting, with Jack joking about the awkwardness of their meeting and Hanni expressing concerns about her appearance. Jack, however, was smitten, saying: “I actually thought she looked fit I just saw the girl I fancy wearing Lycra! We quickly went on our first date and we just clicked.”

The pair made their relationship public in January 2018, with Jack telling OK! Magazine that Hanni is his ‘soulmate’. During an appearance on Loose Women, Jack discussed their future plans, including marriage and children, stating: “I think it is only sensible really to have those sorts of conversations with a partner or someone that you’re dating even if you’re going out for like a few months, as soon as you know it’s serious.”

Hanni, who was also on the show, added: “I think we fell quite quickly and from that we just clicked, and we were on the same page, and you do have those conversations but yeah I think we would like to… in the future.”

The soap star and his girlfriend have been living together for four years, delighting fans with regular glimpses into their life through online posts featuring their home, three dogs, and various outings and date nights.

In June 2024, Jack popped the all-important question to Hanni during a safari holiday in Tanzania. At the end of the trip, Hanni took to Instagram to reveal that Jack had proposed and that that she of course said yes. Five months later, in October, Jack and Hanni revealed that they had set a date for their special day – and they’re set to finally tie the knot on July 26 of this year.

Lauren Shippey

Before his relationship with Hanni, Jack had a long-standing romance with Lauren Shippey, whom he’d been with since 2002, and with whom he shares two children, Nyla and Reuben.

Their relationship hit a rough patch in 2010 when Jack was embroiled in a scandal involving an affair with sales executive Sammy Milewski, which resulted in a pregnancy.

Although the couple split at the time, they eventually got back together, and Jack even proposed to Lauren with a £3,000 ring, while also publicly apologising for any “hurt” caused to his family.

At the time, he expressed: “On Sunday, there were some articles printed about errors I have made in my private life. Over the years, I have enjoyed a successful career with Coronation Street, and with this, I have experienced privileges that have exceeded my own expectations.

“The core ingredients to my success have come from the following areas; my family, ITV Granada, and specifically my girlfriend Lauren and daughter Nyla.

“I would like to apologise to my family, for all the hurt and pain I have caused them, to ITV Granada for letting them down, and especially to Lauren and Nyla, who are the most important people in my life. I now need to concentrate on what is really important, my family and my career, as I have abused my position as an employee, partner and father, and for that I am deeply sorry.”

An insider relayed to The Sun at that time: “Lauren understands Jack made a terrible mistake. Now he has made the ultimate statement that he wants to be with her for the rest of his life.”

Nevertheless, the reality was different, with the pair officially parting ways in 2017, while making a commitment to stay amicable for their children’s sake. The actor from Coronation Street also has a son named Greyson with Sammy, and despite reportedly not having met him, he fulfils his financial responsibilities after DNA results confirmed his paternity. The youngster sadly suffers from an incurable genetic disorder.

Jack is said to have signed up for the new series of Celebrity Big Brother for a special reason. It’s reported that he’s signed up for the reality TV show to help pay for his upcoming wedding that’s just months away.

A source revealed that the couple are “pulling out all the stops” for the upcoming nuptials. “They are incredibly in love and want their day to really represent them as they celebrate with friends and family. Hanni is known for being very stylish and they’ve not skimped on things for the wedding to make sure it’s all perfect.”

They teased that Jack – who it’s previously been suggested was earning around £250,000 from the ITV soap – was drawn by the fee attached to the reality TV show. The source said: “Jack makes good money but it’s no secret that the CBB money is a draw for anyone, especially if you are planning a big event.”
