As Tommy Fury prepares to share his side of this year’s most shocking celebrity break-up, the Mirror looks at the boxer’s fresh hopes of wooing ex Molly-Mae Hague

Tommy Fury discusses upcoming memoir

Tommy Fury has made it clear that he won’t be moving on anytime soon following his shock split from Molly-Mae Hague.

As one of Love Island’s biggest success stories, fans were dismayed after learning Tommy and Molly-Mae, both 25, were parting ways after more than five years together. The former couple, who share daughter Bambi, had been looking forward to tying the knot in what would surely have been one of the defining celebrity weddings of the social media era.

Sadly, their reality show fairytale came to a crashing halt in August, with a split many have compared to the 1996 divorce of the-then Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Unlike Charles however, boxer Tommy intends to fight to show Molly-Mae just how much she means to him.

In his first interview since the influencer break-up of the century, heartbroken Tommy revealed that his feelings towards Molly-Mae have not changed and that he will love her until his ‘dying breath’. In an interview with the Mail Online, Tommy shared: “We were together for five and a half years. You don’t stay with someone, have a child with them, get engaged, if it is only a bit of a fling. It is proper love. Do I still love Molly? 100 per cent. I will love her until my final breath.”

Appearing to hold out hope for a reunion, lovesick Tommy vowed that he is willing to put in the effort to win back Molly-Mae’s heart, stating: “I know what I have to do in order to resolve things. And that’s down to me. Nobody else can do that other than me.”

Manchester-born Tommy has also expressed his intentions to set the record straight ahead of his brand new autobiography, Lightning Can Strike Twice, which will delve into his and Molly-Mae’s relationship in the limelight, and sad separation.

Following the split, which Molly-Mae announced publicly via Instagram, Tommy found himself at the centre of rumours that he’d been cheating – gossip that he’s now dismissed as ‘completely false’. Tommy claimed: “All the allegations that were made of me recently are completely false. The truth will come out in time and when it does, I think a lot of people might regret their actions and unkind words. The whole world will I reckon.”

In an extract from his memoir, due for publication this Thursday (October 10), Tommy recalled a time when Molly-Mae Hague had been convinced he’d been unfaithful, resulting in a blazing row. In the excerpt, published in the Mail Online, it is said the row took place shortly before his romantic proposal in Ibiza.

Not realising Tommy was about to pop the question, Molly-Mae unfortunately got the wrong end of the stick after her beau refused to let her look through his camera roll, which would have given the game away. Tommy remembered: “In the car, Molly asked if she could have a look at the pictures we had taken on my phone. I immediately panicked because if she went on to my camera roll, she would see photos I had just been sent of the setting of our proposal.”

He continued: “I made a lame excuse about being in the middle of a texting debate with my dad about a fight contract.” Unfortunately, Molly-Mae took this to be a sign of something suspicious, not realising that Tommy had a very important question in mind.

According to Tommy: “She thought I might be messaging another girl. I was fuming. I couldn’t believe she would think that, but I also reminded myself that I was acting shifty, so it was fair enough. Ten minutes before I was due to propose, we were in the middle of this blazing row.”

Unfortunately, when Tommy jumped out of the car to get the clifftop proposal set up, a tearful Molly-Mae still didn’t twig, thinking she was being abandoned. Meanwhile, eagle-eyed fans have been keeping an eye out for any sign that the pair have rekindled their romance, with a recent Instagram post sending Molly-Mae’s followers into a tizzy.

In her September photo dump, captioned ‘September You meant a lot to me!!’, many couldn’t help but notice that the Maebe founder’s left hand wasn’t visible, speculating that she was still secretly wearing her engagement ring. One amateur sleuth noted: “Left hand covered in all pics cos the engagement must still be on.” Another remarked: “She hiding that left hand like a pro.”

Addressing reunion rumours last month, Molly-Mae made it clear that she was more focused on her new business venture Maebe, as she looked ahead to the ‘next chapter’ of her already eventful life. Addressing fans in a recent YouTube vlog, Mollie-Mae said: “This next chapter of my life, and this next one with Maebe, I honestly feel it will be the best yet.”

Sources have also revealed that Molly-Mae’s focus has switched from romance to business as she is ‘building her brand and embracing new opportunities’, reports The Sun. They explained: “Molly-Mae’s only focus right now is giving her business the best lift-off – this project has been a childhood dream and years in the making.”

Speculation as to what exactly had gone so wrong between the pair began as soon as Molly-Mae released her emotional statement, in which she emphasised the importance of prioritising her ‘beautiful daughter’ Bambi. Molly-Mae wrote: “Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end. I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.

“I want to thank you all for the love you have shown us over the last five years. You have all been part of our journey and I feel it’s right to share this with you all. Whilst I attempt to navigate the coming days and weeks please kindly respect my privacy over this difficult time, I’ll be back when it feels right. Molly-Mae x.”

Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as a Fury will be on bookshelves from Thursday, October 10 onwards.
