ITV have confirmed the first fixtures they will broadcast as part of their deal to show Carabao Cup and English Football League action in the 2025/26 season. The broadcaster has announced the first six of 20 games to be shown — including Wrexham’s first home match in the Championship.

The Dragons will welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Racecourse Ground in the first second-tier match shown on ITV this term. Wrexham will hope for a positive start to the season after getting underway against Southampton in their first match in the division.

Wrexham’s home outing on the channel follows the Carabao Cup between Birmingham City and Sheffield United. The deal between Sky Sports and ITV sees EFL matches on free-to-air television.

The 20 matches to be broadcast by ITV in the 2025/26 season will be split up between 10 Carabao Cup ties and 10 EFL selections. The deal between ITV and Sky runs until the end of the 2026/27 season, and means a select number of games will be shown on ITV in addition to being available on Sky Sports.

ITV will also air extended highlights of the EFL on ITV4 and ITVX throughout the season as part of the deal.

Last season, the matches shown included the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg between Arsenal and Newcastle, as the Magpies prevailed 2-0 at the Emirates. Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Tottenham was also shown as they overcame a 1-0 first-leg deficit to reach the final.

The six games announced by ITV take the broadcaster until the end of this year with one Carabao Cup match and five Championship games confirmed. There has been a focus on derbies with Southampton vs Portsmouth, Ipswich vs Norwich, Sheffield United’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday and the Midlands clash between Derby and Leicester having been announced.
