The ‘Problem Child’ took on the former heavyweight world champion last November, but went on to score a rather uninspiring victory on points

Jake Paul has claimed he was in the wrong weight division for his fight with Mike Tyson – as he announced his next fight with a LIGHTWEIGHT.

The ‘Problem Child’ took on the former heavyweight king last November, but failed to impress the masses on fight night after scoring a points victory over the 59-year-old. Their contest was that underwhelming, some fans decided to leave before the official decision was announced.

Tyson seemed to tire after the second round and barely landed a punch throughout the remainder of their heavyweight dust-up. Paul – who predominately competes at cruiserweight – moved up a weight class for the contest and tipped the scales at 228.4lbs, the heaviest he has ever weighed for a fight.

When asked for his thoughts on his clash with the boxing legend, Paul believes that the weight played a big factor on fight night. “You have to understand that Mike Tyson is one of the greatest heavyweights of all-time,” he said. “I was outside of my weight class. This is going to be completely different. I am going to be faster with more knockout power against this guy (Gervonta Davis). So, do not blink, it is going to be a knockout.”

The YouTuber-turned-boxer returned seven months after his clash with Tyson, taking on former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Once again, the American failed to impress the boxing community after he went the distance with the 39-year-old. Despite failing to get the knockout, Paul cruised to a victory on points.

Paul is expected to return in November – and is due to take on lightweight sensation, Gervonta Davis. ‘Tank’ has not fought since his controversial draw with Lamont Roach Jr back in March. Davis was seemingly due to take on Roach in an immediate rematch, but he instead decided to brutally snub his rival.

Ahead of his return to the ring, Paul has been criticised for his performances as of late. That said, speaking at the launch press conference, the 28-year-old vowed to score an impressive knockout over ‘Tank.’ “I haven’t got a knockout in a long time, so I’m itching. I’m just excited to be able to deliver that for the fans and have another most viral knockouts ever,” he said.

Paul added: “I would say a lot of things, but I think first and foremost is going to be my reach, my size, and being able to keep him away. I think there’s a lot of holes in his defence that a lot of people haven’t exposed before.”

As for Davis, the 30-year-old has been slammed for taking the fight with the social media sensation, but he insists that boxing fans are in for a treat on fight night. “I think it’s gonna be a great event. Every time I fight, it’s fireworks. Jake Paul coming in; he’s much bigger, he’s much stronger,” he said.

When is Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis?

As aforementioned, the showdown between Paul and Davis will take place on Friday, November 14. All of the action will be held at the Kaseya Center in Florida. Official fight times for the event will be released closer to the time, but expect the main event to take place at around 4am UK time.

Like Paul vs Tyson and Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano, all of the action will be broadcast on streaming platform Netflix, with the provider stating it will be included in all payment plans. Netflix plans range from £5.99 per-month with adverts, to £12.99 per month without, and then ‘Premium’ service for £18.99.
