EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick has admitted he is feeling the pressure over his Strictly Come Dancing stint having already won the Christmas special
Actor Jamie Borthwick has insisted he likes his “pale look” as he reveals the one thing he is least looking forward to on Strictly Come Dancing.
The EastEnders star, 30, is gearing up to take part in this year’s series of the hit BBC dance competition. He has already had a taste of the show, having won the 2023 Strictly Christmas special. Jamie is hoping to replicate his success, yet admitted it has added “a lot of pressure” to his performance on the main series.
He has even been spotted practicing his dance moves while on the set of soap EastEnders. However, Jamie has since revealed his fear of dancing in front of the nation. He admitted he hopes they can all “have a laugh whatever happens”. The actor has received advice from his fellow soap stars on what to expect, yet there is one thing he isn’t prepared for.
“Not the spray tans, no. I like my pale look,” he told Whattowatch. “But as far as everything else goes, all the costumes, I’m really look forward to it.” Speaking about joining this year’s show, Jamie previously said: “This is a fresh challenge and it will be so different to be learning a new dance every week and for the public to have their say.
“I’m hoping to be Salsa-ing around Albert Square in no time and I’ll be asking my Walford Strictly alumni for some words of wisdom. See you on the dancefloor!” On the Christmas special, the soap star was paired with Nancy Xu and the pair impressed judges and viewers alike when he scored the highest possible mark of 40 out of 40.
“I had a ball doing the ‘Strictly’ Christmas special last year, so when I was asked to join for this series it was the easiest yes,” he said ahead of the return. “This is a fresh challenge and it will be so different to be learning a new dance every week and for the public to have their say.”
But actor told MailOnline: “No booze ban for me. I’ve never drunk ever in my life and no one loves me, so I can’t do a sex ban! No bans for me, just loads of food.” Jamie, who is known for playing Jay Brown, has been linked to co-star Jazzy Phoenix. The pair often feature in each other’s Instagram posts and story uploads, with the duo leaning into the potential for romance allegations.
