Amid is ongoing legal battle with Jade Goody’s mum Jackiey Budden, Jeff Brazier has broke his silence after practising ‘self care’
Jeff Brazier has broken his silence to share a subtle post about ‘self care’ amid is ongoing feud with his son’s grandmother. Proud dad-of-two Jeff, 45, has been reportedly feuding with Jackiey Budden, the maternal grandmother of his sons Bobby and Freddy Brazier, for many years now. Some family quarrels have even required legal action, with the latest unravelling.
Bobby, 21, and Freddy, 20, are the sons of TV personality Jeff Brazier, 45, and the late Jade Goody, who tragically passed away in 2009 following a fight with cervical cancer. The son and father trio have often put on a united front on various occasions, whether that was during Bobby’s 2023 Strictly Come Dancing stint or when Freddy and Jeff took part in Celebrity Race Across The World last year.
However, in a fresh family feud, Jeff has reportedly initiated legal action to prevent Freddy from having contact with his maternal grandmother, Jackiey, the mum of Jade. The TV personality, known for his appearance on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, has allegedly hired a barrister to represent him at an imminent hearing in a bid to protect Freddy from “a relationship that has been incredibly detrimental to his wellbeing”. This comes after an ongoing fallout between Jeff and Jade’s mum over the years.
Amid the drama, Jeff has now broken his silence with a positive Instagram post. On Sunday evening, the dad-of-two took to his account to share a series of photographs with several members of his community as they all descended on a long walk for charity. Jeff shared snaps of himself smiling with friends as he seemingly put his feud with Jackiey to one side.
Alongside the photos, he hinted at navigating himself through a ‘challenging’ time as he wrote: “Thank you to everyone who found their way to the @prjctwlks offering today. Turning up for yourself when life is challenging will always be a stunning act of self care.”
Back in 2023, EastEnders actor Bobby moved fans at the National Television Awards when he accepted the Rising Star award, giving a heartfelt speech that brought his father Jeff and the audience to tears. However, his triumphant moment was somewhat marred by his grandmother Jackiey’s reported outburst against his father at the ceremony.
Jade’s mum has branded Jeff “a c**k” as she secretly watched her grandson Bobby collect his first ever National Television Award. According to The Sun, the 68-year-old, who had bought a ticket to attend the event, was overheard expressing her pride in Bobby before launching a verbal attack on Jeff, stating: “I’m so proud of him [Bobby]. He’s incredible. They didn’t know I was there. I didn’t allow them to know I was there. I didn’t want to see their dad. He’s a c**k. But I’m going to wait until they’re older before I let rip.”
Jeff, who welcomed Bobby and Freddie into the world with Jade shortly before her death in 2009, has made no secret of his struggles with his former mother-in-law over the years.. In a 2012 interview with HuffPost, Jeff revealed that Jackiey’s behaviour had made him feel like a “mean parent”.
He opened up about the challenges of co-parenting post-separation, particularly when it comes to his sons and their grandmother, Jackiey. He recounted how Jackiey spoiled Bobby and Freddie with ‘unsuitable’ gifts like a hamster and mobile phones, which he had to ‘confisc66-year-oldate’.
Jeff shared his frustrations, penning: “Late nights and excessive amounts of sugar are a grandparents prerogative and were the least of my concerns. I got a phone call from an excitable Freddy telling me he was now the proud owner of a hamster. Great, I feel I have more responsibility than I really know what to do with as it is, let alone introducing a pet into the equation. As I explained to Jackiey, it would have been nice to have been asked because now I’ve been put into a position where I have to be the mean parent who says no and ruins the fun.”
He added: “This happened before with mobile phones. Yep, a year ago she got them a phone each so she could have direct contact with them both and I don’t remember being asked if I minded on that occasion either. I understand she wants direct contact but they are just too young to be carrying these things around responsibly so we keep them to the house. I can’t fault Jackiey when she’s got the boys, I just wish we could work together a little better.”
Jeff and Jackiey’s relationship has now seemingly hit rock bottom, with Jeff taking legal action against his ex’s mother regarding youngest son Freddie. It has previously been reported how Freddy had a ‘secret feud’ with his dad and ‘storms out the house’ after huge rows, opting to stay at nan Jackiey’s flat in southeast London to cool down.
It has been claimed Jeff has begun legal proceedings and hired a barrister ahead of an upcoming hearing.
An insider claimed to The Sun: “This is something Jeff and anyone who cares about Freddy hopes will help keep him safe from a relationship that has been incredibly detrimental to his wellbeing for a long time now. The fact that Jeff is going down this route shows how concerned we all are, and how our efforts to keep Fred safe are being grossly undermined by other people.’’
The Mirror has approached Jeff’s representatives for comment on this story.
