Jennifer Lawrence has revealed the gender of her second child and opened up about the postpartum anxiety she experienced after the birth that made her think she would “ruin” her children. The Oscar-winning actress became a mother of two six months ago, when she gave birth to her second child with art gallery director Cooke Maroney.

Now, she has revealed that the child is a boy. She also revealed that she struggled with postpartum anxiety after his birth.

Jennifer shared she was convinced she was “doing everything wrong” and would think his cries meant he didn’t like her. “I just thought every time he was sleeping he was dead,” she said in a new interview. “I thought he cried because he didn’t like his life, or me, or his family. I thought I was doing everything wrong, and that I would ruin my children.”

The actress told The New Yorker that she started to question everything people said to her after an incident with ChatGPT. She recalled how she asked the chatbot a question about breastfeeding.

It’s answer told her that she was “doing the most amazing thing” and a “loving mother”. The fact that a computer was telling her the same things everyone else did made her question the sincerity of her friends.

The actress is currently doing press for her new film, Die My Love, which also stars Robert Pattinson, who has his own children with actress and singer Suki Waterhouse.

In this interview, she added that this was not the first time she has struggled with anxiety. She shared that she was “driven by anxiety” and used to worry constantly that she was upsetting someone.

Jennifer also experienced postpartum anxiety with her first son, Cy. She said that the postpartum was “worse” with her second son, but she still felt like she was “at war” with the world after the birth of her first.

Jennifer and her husband married in 2019 in Rhode Island. She had their first child in 2022. At the time, she told Vogue about how having Cy made her heart stretch.

“I just stared. I was just so in love. I also fell in love with all babies everywhere. Newborns are just so amazing,” she shared. She later added: “I mean the euphoria of Cy is just — Jesus, it’s impossible. My heart has stretched to a capacity that I didn’t know about. I include my husband in that.”
