Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid and his England colleague Jude Bellingham has issued a tantalising clue about his future
Jude Bellingham has insisted it would be “disrespectful” to speak about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool as Real Madrid continue to chase his England team-mate.
The Liverpool defender has just six months remaining on his contract at Anfield. He would be eligible to open talks with foreign clubs in January regarding a free transfer.
Spanish giants Real Madrid are among the clubs linked with him. A move to the Santiago Bernabeu would see Alexander-Arnold join England colleague and close friend Bellingham at the club.
The Madrid midfielder has been asked about a potential reunion in Spain ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Liverpool. And Bellingham believes he is sure to play with the defender next season – but only on the international front.
Speaking in a press conference, he said: “Would I like to play with Trent? I will be with him in the national team, so that will be guaranteed.
“He is a Liverpool player and talking about the future is disrespectful. The important thing is to relieve the pressure. He is a great friend and I wish him all the best. Except tomorrow.”
While Bellingham is aiming to get one over his friend on Wednesday evening, there is doubt over the defender’s fitness. Alexander-Arnold has been sidelined since the international break and missed the weekend’s win against Southampton.
Reds boss Arne Slot has however hinted he could potentially return to contention for Wednesday’s clash. Alexander-Arnold was spotted in training ahead of the midweek clash with Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, ex-Liverpool star Michael Owen has issued his thoughts on a potential exit. He claims that Alexander-Arnold’s legacy at Anfield should not be affected should he choose to leave the club in the near future. Speaking to The Telegraph, he said: “The Trent situation is an interesting one.
“Trent has done everything for Liverpool. He adores Liverpool. If he goes, no one should begrudge him a different experience in his life and career.
“Whatever happens he should be regarded as a hero. Sadly, it does affect the way people view you. It will tarnish him in some eyes even though it shouldn’t.”
Should Alexander-Arnold not return to the Liverpool line-up on Wednesday, he could potentially be seen at the weekend as the Reds attempt to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League. Liverpool take on Manchester City at Anfield, while they then travel to Newcastle and then Everton across what is a tricky festive fixture list for Slot’s side.
