Kate Bush has revealed she is ready to release new music for the first time in over a decade as she admits she has ‘lot of ideas’ she is waiting to share with her fans

Kate Bush fans will be elated to know the icon is on her way back, 13 years after her last album release.

The Running Up That Hill songstress, 66, has revealed she is ready to release new tunes for the first time in over a decade. In fact, she’s claimed she is “very keen” to thrust herself back into the limelight.

She admits there are “lots of ideas” she is looking to pursue, but is ready to unleash herself back into “that creative space”. Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Kate admitted: “It’s been a long time.”

It was 2011 when Kate last released a new record in the form of 50 Words for Snow. While there have been other releases, they have all been live or compilation albums, and not new pieces of work. While a newer audience was won over by her iconic Running Up That Hill tune thanks to its use on Netflix’s Stranger Things, Kate also had huge hits such as Babooshka and Wuthering Heights.

When she was asking about her future plans, she confessed she has been “caught up doing a lot of archive work”. This included sorting her website and putting together a lyric workbook. However, she added: “I’m very keen to start working on a new album when I’ve got this finished. I’ve got lots of ideas and I’m really looking forward to getting back into that creative space, it’s been a long time.”

And she admitted it had been something she had ” felt really ready to start” when it came to producing something new. Fans will have to wait a little longer before she takes to the stage, though, as she revealed she’s not quite ready for that just yet. The rare chat came as she launched a new short film in a bid to raise funds for children who have been affected by war. The four-minute animation titled Little Shrew was released today (Friday, October 25) on her website.

Speaking of the project, Kate said: “I started working on it a couple of years ago, it was not long after the Ukrainian war broke out, and I think it was such a shock for all of us. It’s been such a long period of peace we’d all been living through. And I just felt I wanted to make a little animation that would feature, originally, a little girl. It was really the idea of children caught up in war. I wanted to draw attention to how horrific it is for children.”

She devastatingly admitted that “these are dark times that we’re living in”, and explained how people are feeling “worn out”.
