The Princess of Wales Kate Middleton spent quality time with her family at a popular ski resort just after Christmas, with the royals celebrating her cancer remission news

The Princess of Wales enjoyed a relaxing ski trip with her nearest and dearest, after receiving cancer treatment last year and entering remission.

Kate Middleton, 43, revealed last week that she was focussing on her recovery, while gradually returning to her royal duties as she adjusts to her “new normal”. The mum-of-three announced her diagnosis in March 2024, having undergone major abdominal surgery in January last year.

Now, a year later, and after undergoing preventative chemotherapy, the princess is officially in remission, and has taken some time out to enjoy quality time with her family. Heading to the Alps, Kate was joined by her husband, Prince William, and her three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

The family are said to have spent Christmas in the UK, before leaving their home on the Sandringham Estate just after with some members of the Middleton family. Kate and her family then spent time at popular mountain-top restaurant, enjoying hot drinks in the morning, before returning to the same spot to take in the panoramic views while sitting together for a meal.

A member of staff told the Mail on Sunday: “It was lovely to see Kate relaxing and enjoying herself. They looked like a normal English family, and a lot of people didn’t recognise them. It was not the first time we had seen them. They have been coming here for years. I think they love the area. We often see Kate’s sister Pippa as well.”

According to the paper, the family had visited the popular dining spot La Cave des Creux, in Courchevel, in the French Alps. The restaurant serves fine food and drinks in front of an open fireplace and has views of the Three Valleys ski resort and Mont Blanc from the terrace, as well as an outdoor fire.

It comes after Kate thanked The Royal Marsden treatment centre for caring for her during her cancer diagnosis, following a visit where she was photographed embracing current patients. The princess shared a heartfelt message on social media, announcing she has taken on a new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden.

Writing on X, she said: “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year. My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.

“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting ground-breaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.” The message was signed off with a C denoting it was a personal message from the princess.
