Aspinal of London is loved by a series of celebrities and royals alike and we have no doubt their new summer Raffia range will receive just as much love

The Princess of Wales is most definitely one of our favourite style icons and one thing we can always expect to see her rocking is an elegant handbag. One we often spot her sporting is the Aspinal of London Midi Mayfair handbag, which has had a gorgeous makeover ready for the summer alongside a plethora of new styles.

Having been designed in a series of different raffia styles – natural, basket, embroidered and biscuit – the bag will no doubt be snapped up by fans of the royal for being a chic addition to their accessory collection that’s perfect for lighter, more summery outfits.

Costing £695, this bag is certainly an investment piece, crafted with raffia and full-grain leather to ensure its longevity and is highly versatile thanks to its detachable leather strap. Featuring two open compartments that have been separated by a zipped pocket, the bag is elegant and adorned with the brand’s signature gold hardware. You can even get the bag personalised.

Sharing the Mayfair’s new look on social media, Aspinal of London wrote on its stories: “Our timelessly elegant Natural Raffia confirms its status as a summer staple.”

Of course, Midi Mayfairs aren’t the only bag to have received a summer glow-up as the brand’s tote bags as well as camera crossbody (£350) and clutch bags, £425, have received an update in the same gorgeous raffia material that screams holiday in the Mediterranean.

The Henley Raffia Tote Bag, £450, has swapped its white and navy chevron design for a more natural look with the raffia styles that are all finished with leather straps and piping in a soft tan colour. The stunning accessory features two mobile-sized pockets in the spacious interior (Height: 11 inches / Width: 14.2 inches / Depth: 6.9 inches) that can fit a whole host of essential items from your book and sunglasses to water-bottle keys, purse and more.

After the brand, whose fans also include Amanda Holden, Gigi Hadid and Jennifer Lopez, shared their new designs on social media some days ago with a caption that read: “Raffia, reborn. In four new weave styles, woven raffia returns for SS24,” their followers raced to the comments to voice their thoughts on the summery style.

One said: “Gorgeous,” while another remarked: “Oh this is stunning.”

With the bags being made from raffia and in a lighter shade, the only worry is that they could easily become dirty and may not be the easiest things to clean (with the woven design seeing dirt get in the nooks and crannies). However, with a handbag like this, you’ll probably take extra care to ensure it remains pristine to ensure maximum wear out and to keep it looking in tip-top shape.

If you’re not wanting to fork out over £400 for a handbag however, we can steer you in the direction of a few high street stores who are offering a similar design for a fraction of the price.

For example, River Island is a great alternative if you want a bag that looks designer but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Its Beige Raffia Satchel Bag has a similar look to the Midi Mayfair but doesn’t come with a shorter handle and its shoulder strap has a chain rather than complete leather – plus, it’s only £35.

For a slightly different take on the raffia style, this Fiona Shoulder Bag from Anthropologie is gorgeous at £68 and is finished with the same tan leather trimmings and woven fabric. However, if you love Aspinal of London’s new handbag range, see its new in collection here.
