Kevin Spacey denied knowing sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell or having links to Prince Andrew in his interview with Piers Morgan
Kevin Spacey has denied knowing Jeffrey Epstein – but flew on his plane and said he saw ‘young girls’ on the flight.
The 64-year-old actor told Piers Morgan Uncensored how he went on a humanitarian mission to South Africa with then-President Bill Clinton and learned that the plane they travelled in was owned by sex offender Epstein, who took his own life in 2019 before he could stand trial for his crimes.
Years later allegations about Epstein began to surface and there were reports that Spacey might have travelled to his island, where girls were groomed and abused. But in his interview with Piers, Spacey denied ever visiting Epstein Island and said he did not remember meeting him.
He said: “Well of course I have since learned who he is [Epstein] and I have since been able to go back and find out that the aeroplane that we flew on for this humanitarian mission was owned by Jeffrey Epstein, and then to learn, ‘Oh, he was actually on some of those flights’, and this [Ghislaine] Maxwell woman was on some of those flights.”
But he denied knowing the pair or spending any time with Epstein and said he was on the trip “with the Clinton Foundation people”. While travelling with Clinton, Spacey expressed fears for the former president’s safety, saying the presence of young girls “put the president at risk”.
Spacey was pictured with Maxwell, who is currently serving 20 years in a US jail for trafficking girls for Epstein, in the throne room at Buckingham alongside Prince Andrew. But he claims that after that trip he never saw Maxwell again and that Epstein “didn’t even come to Buckingham Palace”.
He said: “This Maxwell woman, she was one of many people to sit down next to me in that throne room. I have no relationship with her. I had no relationship with him. I mean he’s not my friend. I am not a confidant. I’ve never spent time with him. And interestingly, I will say this. I was very fortunate that President Clinton introduced me to a lot of business leaders in London because he knew I was coming to the Old Vic… Do you know who I never asked for anything, was Jeffrey Epstein? I didn’t want to be around this guy because I felt he put the President at risk on that trip to South Africa, because there were these young girls. We were like, ‘Who is this guy’?”
When interviewer Piers asked: “There were young girls on those flights?” Spacey replied: “There were young girls on those flights, yes. That’s been out, they’ve talked about it. But here’s my point. There’s a big difference between not remembering that I met some guy and some woman on a humanitarian trip where my focus was entirely on what we were there to do, and not remembering whether I went to somebody’s island. So, I never went to Jeffrey Epstein’s island. I did not know him and I never saw him or her after that morning at Buckingham Palace. He didn’t even come to Buckingham Palace, she was only there.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Spacey admitted to admitted to being “too handsy” and “touching someone sexually” despite the individual not wanting him to. The actor was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017 but found not guilty in a 2022 New York lawsuit. He was acquitted of sexual assault charges in a separate London trial in 2023.
However, he is due to face a civil trial in the UK, likely in early 2025, over a lawsuit by another man claiming Spacey sexually assaulted him. Spacey has denied all allegations.
