A 13-year-old boy has died in hospital after a crash in Killeavy, Co Armagh, on Thursday where there was a collision involving a quad bike on the Low Road area

A young teenager has died after a crash involving a quad bike with police appealing to the public for information.

The 13-year-old boy passed away in hospital after the collision involving the quad bike on the Low Road area of Killeavy, Co Amrmagh, on January 2.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police can confirm that a 13-year-old boy has sadly died following a collision involving a quad bike on Thursday, January 2nd.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene with the road closed and the boy was taken to hospital but he couldn’t be saved, said the force. They are now investigating the incident and asking for witnesses or anyone with footage that could help, to get in touch.

Inspector Cherith Adair said: “We received a report of a boy being injured following an incident involving a quad bike on the Low Road, Killeavy. He was taken to hospital where he tragically passed away. The road which was closed, has since reopened.

“An investigation to establish the circumstances is underway and anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or doorbell footage that could help with enquiries, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference CW 785– 02/01/25.”

Many people have taken to social media to express their sadness at the tragic news. “This is so sad. God love all the family,” wrote one person on Facebook and another stated: “Dreadful news.. Rip ..Thoughts with his entire family circle at this time. Heartbreaking.” A further comment read: “Absolutely heartbreaking news RIP wee man. Prayers with the family.”
