Coronation Street star Kym Marsh posted an emotional message on social media following the birthday celebration of her adorable granddaughter. The 48 year old actress, who soared to fame while on reality singing contest Popstars in 2001, took to social media to praise the father of her eldest two children, David Cunliffe, as they revelled in the birthday celebrations.

Despite their split, it looks as though Kym has managed to maintain a healthy relationship with her ex, who is the father of her eldest daughter Emilie and son David. Taking to Instagram, the pair are seen posing for a selfie, clearly amid a joke as their broad smiles for the camera captured the moment perfectly.

She captioned the post saying: “Our granddaughter’s birthday party! So lucky to have such amazing kids and grandkids but also that this man @davidanthonycunliffe is not only the father of my two first born children but is also one of my best friends in the world.” She ended her caption with three red heart emojis.

But this is not the first time that the pair have shared a special moment together, as it wasn’t that long ago they were pictured enjoying a day out watching the Euro final last year. The pair first met in 1994 while at a karaoke bar in Kym’s hometown of Whiston, Merseyside. The couple soon fell in love and had two children together.

But their relationship failed to stand the test of time and the pair split. Years later, Kym has clearly managed to form a great bond with David, as she took a selfie of them sporting England tops last year, ahead of the highly anticipated game in July last year.

She captioned her post: “England ready.” This was followed up with a heart emoji. The pair were seen jokingly posing for the up close picture as they prepared themselves for the England match. Their reunion came just days after Kym decided to go social media official with her new beau and musical theatre co-star at the time, Samuel Thomas.

Posting a loved up post for the world to see, Kym was seen kissing Samuel, who she met while starring in 101 Dalmatians:The Musical. She captioned her post saying: “Met the most amazing man ever! Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times. @samuelthomasuk I love you #beautiful #soulmate #loveyou.”

At the time, Samuel was only 29 years old but the pair ignored their 19 year age gap and continued their relationship. And in a completely separate post, Samuel then declared his love for Kym, stating: “I didn’t expect you, but here you are. I love you.”

Despite a stream of well-wishes from fans, some were left sceptical over her new romance, labelling it a five minute wonder. One fans wrote: “Jesus another amazing man. 5 minute wonder. He looks like your son.” Kym then simply replied at the time: “Do one.”

But another added: “You said that about the last bloke the other year,” to which she commented: “Why don’t you go do one.” However, this was quickly balanced out with positive comments from fans who praised her for openly sharing her happy news.

One follower said: “I cannot believe the amount of people who have jumped on this post straightaway, to just post negative shit. This is a human being sharing their good news, this is a woman who has lost her father not long ago and has found happiness by the looks of it.”

They added: “Most of these comments are from women as well, which somehow always makes it worse when it comes to another woman being content and happy. I can only think it’s jealousy or just being completely miserable in your own lives.” Kym then posted a two-word response to the comment as she replied: “Thank you x.”

However, it was reported last month that the pair had split following their whirlwind romance after the completion of their theatre production of 101 Dalmatians.

This comes just a few months after their public loved up posts. But according to reports, cracks were starting to show as neither posted a Valentines Day message post to each other.
