An at-home multitasking light therapy tool, it reduces the look of blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles.

Dr Alexis Granite, consultant dermatologist and founder of Joonbyrd, said while the principles behind LED technology will be the same across different masks but “not all masks contain the same types of bulbs, light wavelengths or materials”. Dr Dennis Gross’ LED mask is more powerful than others so shoppers can get the same energy in three minutes as opposed to 20 minutes.

Shoppers reported that their acne and overall skin brightness have improved. One commented: “I have been using this for over eight months now and can see a vast improvement in skin texture and overall brightness under the skin. Really easy to use and the charge works fine but I do use it for longer than the recommended three minutes a day. Not sure how this will be long term but so far happy.”

Another customer was shocked by the acne-healing effect, sharing: “I bought this whilst I was suffering from severe painful acne whilst waiting to be seen by a dermatologist. I didn’t have high hopes, but I was desperate. I was religiously using this mask, but attributed the skin clearing to the pill.

“I then got lazy with the mask, and I started getting some spots again. Whilst this obviously did not clear my severe cystic acne alone, it does help to keep the spots away, and I’m surprised by how good a job it actually does.”

The red light therapy stimulates collagen production to firm skin over time

A 45-year-old shopper was satisfied with the Dr Dennis Gross mask design as she said: “I couldn’t find any other mask which is that pleasant to look at and that comfortable. I look after my skin, own Foreo, microcurrent device, etc, so this mask fits into my routine perfectly. After every day treatment I can say that my face is radiant, no blemishes, no discolouration, my under eye area looks pretty good to the point that I barely wear makeup.”

But not all reviews were glowing as some shoppers say they “are yet to see any improvement on fine lines and wrinkles”. Another noted a flaw in the strap design: “The mask is a bit tricky to clean, and the strap feels flimsy. The straps around your head never stay tight, you’ll tighten them and they’ll immediately loosen.”

Founder Dr Dennis Gross gave his advice on the correct way to use the mask for best results. He said: “Remember the golden rule of layering – thinnest to thickest. Light therapy should be done on a clean, dry face. Applying topical products beforehand will block the LED from penetrating the skin, and you won’t see the best results.

“The SpectreLite FaceWare Pro should be used at any time for three minutes daily. If your device sits on the shelf, it won’t work. Consistency is key for great results.”
