Liam Payne’s friend revealed the incredible lengths he went to so he could make their wedding, just weeks before death.
The One Direction singer plunged to his death in a tragic incident on 16 October, as authorities in Argentina revealed he fell three floors from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. An investigation into the 31-year-old’s death is ongoing, and officials suggested he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol in the run up to his death, adding that he was possibly unconscious as he fell three floors.
In the wake of the Strip That Down hitmaker’s death, his family and friends paid heartbreaking tributes to the singer, and in one poignant post, his pal Madison Donnan revealed the extraordinary lengths Liam went to just weeks before his death. The influencer wed businessman Matthew Kenner in a lavish ceremony in Paris in August, and in an Instagram post, she revealed Liam had flown from a far-flung unknown location to get to their nuptials in time.
“We are still in disbelief that we lost our dear friend Liam. He was a talented singer, songwriter, and most importantly, a cherished friend whose spirit lit up every room he entered. His infectious laughter and genuine interest left a lasting impression on all those who had the privilege of knowing him,” Madison began.
“Today, as we honor Liam’s memory, let us not only celebrate his artistry but also the profound impact he had as a friend. Liam left filming to catch a red eye and make it to our wedding. He waited at the end of the aisle to be the first to congratulate us,” she wrote. Madison also recalled Liam serving as tour guide for one of her and Matthew’s trips to London, as the singer had his “legs sticking out” in a minivan as they travelled around the city with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
“It was impossible not to love him. To his girlfriend Kate, his family and friends, may you find solace in the cherished moments shared with Liam. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with you as we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual who brought so much joy into our lives,” she concluded the sad post.
Model Kate shared her own agonising post, mourning the loss of her boyfriend of two years, as she revealed Liam had planned to propose. “A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever’,” she shared on Instagram. “Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go. Forever yours, Katelyn.”
