Liberty Poole has admitted taking time out for herself after her shock break-up from Joshua Raybould, despite thinking he was “The One”. The former Love Island star confirmed earlier this month that she had split from the aspiring DJ after a “breakdown in communication”, and now tells Mirror she’s off travelling to look for her husband.

“I’ve been through a lot of break ups, I mean, you’ve seen me go through it on national TV! So, I’ll be OK. But it’s one of those things, I did think he was ‘The One’,” admits Liberty at Superdrug Presents in Shoreditch. “At the end of the day, I’ve just got to focus on me, my work and my new business,” continues Liberty, who has recently begun her own swimwear line for bigger busts, Uplifted the Label.

Liberty, 25, went public with 28-year-old Joshua – who was a long-time friend – last August, and appeared smitten with him at the time. It came after a failed romance with Jake Cornish on the 2021 series of Love Island, which saw Liberty dump her co-star on screen before leaving the villa.

Since then, she has appeared on Love Island spin-offs All Stars and The Games, but struggled to find a connection. “I’ve been on my own before, but I’ve never coped with it in a healthy way. This time, I’m really trying to deal with it properly and the right way. I think every time you go through a break-up you learn things about yourself, who you are as a person and what you want in the future,” continues Liberty.

And when it comes to the best way to shake off a bad break up, Liberty says it’s a summer of fun. “I’m ready to travel, you’ll be seeing me as an international girl,” she laughs, continuing that she’s hoping to find Mr. Right on her travels.

She continues, “I feel like I’ve been in Birmingham long enough to know that my husband is not there, I’m not going to find him in Birmingham! We’re looking for an international baddie next.”

“I’d really like a businessman, so someone older and mature, I feel like now I have my own business that would work really well.”

With a new series of Love Island: All Stars just around the corner, Liberty is single just in time, but says it’s unlikely we’ll see her on the show again. “I’ve done it three times, I think my Love Island days are done now. And I like people who aren’t really in the public eye, so that’s more what I’m looking for. Someone that will support me and I can support them.”

Liberty confirmed her split from boyfriend of one year Joshua in an Instagram statement earlier this month, writing at the time: “: “Hi guys, just wanted to address this one time only. Josh and I are no longer together. I know I shared a lot of my relationship and happiness online I did that because I honestly believed this would be my happy ending and was it for me as far as dating went.”

Unfortunately life’s no fairytale. This was my first for a lot. First real love, first serious relationship, first time living with someone, first time making someone part of the family. With that comes a lot of unexpected trials no relationship is 100% perfect.”

She continued: “There was no big scandal no cheating. Just an irreversible breakdown in communication. Josh and I have parted amicably with fond memories of the love we shared. I wish him all the best for the future and hope he finds love, peace and happiness.”

“I won’t be commenting on the situation further, but just focusing on my healing. Yes I was going through a break up and launching my business at the same time. This isn’t the end of my love story just a chapter.

“I also wanted to add thank you to any stranger that saw me out and said kind words this past month. You lifted a girl up when she was down. I hope you can continue to support me in my boss babe, growth era. Lover girl out for now.”
