Liverpool and Newcastle have both been credited with an interest in Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, who has flourished under Cherries head coach Andoni Iraola

Liverpool are one of the Premier League teams courting Antoine Semenyo, with AFC Bournemouth braced for transfer interest in their star forward.

The Ghana international, 25, has been one of the Cherries top performers this season. But unfortunately for Andoni Iraola and co, his displays have not gone unnoticed elsewhere.

Semenyo is now seemingly being targeted for a blockbuster transfer after taking his game to the next level under Iraola, with Liverpool and Newcastle named as two of the teams interested in the former Bristol City man.

Any potential deal, be it in January or at the end of the season, could be aided by Bournemouth’s interest in Liverpool’s Ben Doak. The 19-year-old winger has flourished on loan in the Championship with Middlesbrough and could go in the opposite direction if Semenyo were to be approached over a move to Anfield.

Doak has already attracted interest this month with the Reds turning down bids from Crystal Palace. But with the Eagles now poised to snap up Romain Esse from Millwall, it remains to be seen if they will come back to the table for Doak.

As first revealed by The Sun, Semenyo is valued at £50million. And that price tag could mean his suitors keep their powder dry until the summer unless circumstances change over the coming weeks.

Another name on Liverpool’s radar is Kvicha Kvaratskhelia. The 23-year-old Georgian superstar has handed in a transfer request but is thought to favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain, though the French giants have yet to strike a deal with Napoli.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte confirmed on Saturday that the player was now pushing for a move, saying: “[Kvaratskhelia] asked the club to be sold. I’m disappointed. It was a bolt from the blue. I don’t want him to think I’ve chained him here… We’re losing an important player.”

The former Tottenham and Chelsea boss added: “I tried to convince Kvaratskhelia to stay but he has decided to go and try new chapter. The club and his agent will now find the solution… I can’t keep Kvara here if he doesn’t want to stay.”

Liverpool have an abundance of riches in forward areas but have still yet to strike an agreement with Mohamed Salah over a new deal, while Luis Diaz has been linked with numerous suitors, including Barcelona, over the last 12 months.
