Liverpool are set to splash the cash over the coming week with a deal for Florian Wirtz close to completion but there are doubts over Andy Robertson’s long-term future at Anfield
Liverpool have not messed around this summer as they attempt to launch a successful Premier League title defence. Despite losing Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Reds very quickly moved for his replacement by signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
They’ve also sealed a deal to sign wonderkid Armin Pecsi, the young goalkeeper set to compete with Alisson and fellow new arrival Giorgi Mamardashvilli next season. But Liverpool’s business does not look like it will end there.
Arne Slot’s side are closing in on a mega deal for Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz, who could potentially become the most expensive footballer in British football history. He looks set to be joined by Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.
But it’s not just incomings where Liverpool chiefs are earning their money. There’s also plenty of interest in their current stars, with decisions set to be taken over their futures.

Wirtz clue dropped
Bayer Leverkusen appear to have strongly hinted that Florian Wirtz is on his way to Liverpool having made moves to sign his replacement. Previous reports suggested that the German side were interested in Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert.
A fresh report from Voetbal International has revealed that PSV star Johan Bakayoko is also on Leverkusen’s shortlist. He is seen as a more affordable option for Leverkusen given he has just one year remaining on his PSV deal.
Ironically, Bakayoko has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past. But Liverpool now appear very unlikely to pursue him given their imminent deal for Wirtz.

Brighton star reveals Liverpool dream
Brighton star Igor Julio has claimed it is his dream to sign for Liverpool having urged teammate Joao Pedro to move to Anfield. “I told [Pedro] that he has to think about what he wants from his career,” he said.
“In my opinion, if I were going to a ‘Big Six’ team, I would go to a team that fights for the Premier League, plays in the Champions League and is always in a position to win.
“I would go to a Liverpool team and I think he would fit in perfectly at Liverpool. It’s because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Liverpool and I would go there.”
Atletico eye Robertson
On the topic of defenders, Liverpool look like they have a fight on their hands to keep Andrew Robertson. According to The Athletic, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have put Robertson right at the top of their shortlist for a new left-back having abandoned a move for Theo Hernandez.
Talks are yet to be opened between the two clubs and with the defender himself, albeit he is apparently keen on a move to Madrid.
Robertson could potentially be set to fall down the pecking order at Anfield due to the possible signing of Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez.
