Liverpool have work to do in the transfer window and contract situations to resolve with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk allowed to speak to other clubs

The transfer window is open and Liverpool have the opportunity to boost their Premier League chances with some January business if they so wish.

An approach from Real Madrid over a possible early deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold has kick-started the month. The academy product, alongside Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk, is allowed to speak to clubs around Europe having entered the final six months of his deal.

Arne Slot will hope the Reds can avoid distraction to continue the fine form they have displayed under the Dutchman. But has Slot uncovered where he would like to improve his side?

Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours around Anfield.

Winger wants exit

Federico Chiesa is reported to be keen on making a move to Italy for the remainder of the season. The former Juventus star has endured a difficult season of injury and has struggled to break into Slot’s team

Inter Milan, AC Milan, Roma, Napoli, Atalanta and Fiorentina have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old. Chiesa is said to be interested in a six-month loan or permanent move but salary has been suggested as a sticking point.

FootMercato claims that Chiesa hopes to find more regular playing time, and that national team coach Luciano Spalletti is pushing for a Serie A return to boost his international hopes.

Omar Marmoush latest

Any chance Liverpool have of signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush, could be hit by the club’s ongoing talks with Mo Salah according to reports. The Reds’ negotiations with their talisman could see Arsenal become frontrunners for his Egyptian teammate.

The club’s priority remains to convince Salah to agree new terms and Frankfurt are keen to keep Marmoush until the end of the season. The Bundesliga side are set to hold out for £50million but Arsenal and Liverpool have received a boost amid reports an offer from a European giant could turn his head.

Marmoush recently suggested otherwise. “What I can promise the fans is that I will give my all for Eintracht in every game”, Marmoush told TZ.

“I am not thinking about a transfer. I am living in the here and now and enjoying my time in Frankfurt.”

Shock Salah offer

Paris Saint-Germain hope to blow Liverpool out of the water with an offer for Mo Salah. Romain Collet Gaudin reports the Ligue 1 side have offered Salah a three-year contract and are prepared to pay the 32-year-old €500,000-per-week for his services.

Such a move would see the Premier League star become the first marquee signing from the Parisian club since Kylian Mbappe’s departure.
