Lola Young has announced that she has cancelled her upcoming appearances and will be “going away for a while” after collapsing during a New York gig

Singer-songwriter Lola Young has cancelled her upcoming gigs after collapsing on stage at a concert in New York.

The Messy singer, 24, shared in an Instagram post today: “I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future.

“Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.

“Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund. I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger. Love you all, Lola x.”

On Saturday, the star was fell to the floor while performing at All Things Go music festival in Forest Hills Stadium, with medics rushing to treat her. The star was singing her hit Conceited when the incident happened.

The stage was quickly cleared and the audience began to disperse. Prior to collapsing, Lola told her fans: “I wanted to say I had a couple of tricky days. Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue.”

American rapper Doechii – whose real name is Jaylah Hickman – performed after Lola at the festival and got the crowd to shot “we love you Lola” in support of her after the incident.

“She’s an incredibly talented artist, and she wasn’t feeling well tonight, and I’m so glad you guys were there to support her and hold her up. Let’s wish her the best, OK everybody?”

It came after Lola made an emotional comeback, having cancelled her previous concert over mental health concerns.

She had been due to perform at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert at Newark’s Prudential Center when her manager, Nick Shymansky, said via her Instagram story that she was pulling out of the performance “due to a sensitive matter”.

He later shared: “Lola is very open about her mental health and there are very occasionally days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe.”

He concluded by saying, “She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”

Lola had recently released her third studio album, I’m Only F****ing Myself, and was due to play venues around England and Scotland in October.
