Lorraine Kelly shared a health update with fans after revealing she underwent surgery to remove her fallopian tubes and ovaries. The 65-year-old ITV talk show host previously shared a video taken from her hospital bed explaining to fans that she had to undergo ‘preventative’ surgery.

The star said she had to have her ovaries and tubes taken out but reassured fans she would be “totally fine”. On Sunday, Lorraine shared a positive update with fans. In the new snap, Lorraine sat in a wheelchair and smiled at the camera in casual clothes while hospital staff stood around her to pose for a snap.

“Huge thanks to these kind, caring, gorgeous professionals who took care of me at @heatherwoodhospital – back home now and following doctors orders to rest up,” she told fans.

“My surgeon Mr Ahmed Rafaat has been so reassuring throughout – and I can’t thank the whole team enough! #care #kindness #professionalism #thanks #hospital #lucky.”

Fellow ITV star Dr Amir Khan said: “So glad you’re home, what a fantastic team,” while Christine Lampard, who is a host on her show, posted a few heart emojis.

Loose Women’s Katie Piper wrote: “Glad you are home. Rest up,” while Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden added: “Sending lots of love.” Vanessa Feltz, Emma Willis and Gaby Roslin also sent well wishes to the presenter .

In the Lorraine originally shared about her surgery, she looked calm as she smiled for the camera while wearing a hospital gown. She said to followers: “Just wanted to let you know I’m having a wee procedure today. I’ve not been feeling all that well for a little while, so I had some scans and tests, and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out.”

She added: “It’s purely preventative. It’s going to be with keyhole surgery, which is incredible, I’m being very well looked after, and I’ll obviously see you really soon, and I’m gonna be totally fine.”

In the caption, she wrote: “Getting keyhole surgery – all preventative – feel very lucky to be treated so well – thank you Dr Raafat and all the staff!”

While Lorraine recovers from her surgery she won’t be able to host her ITV morning show. On Monday, May 5, viewers tuned in to find Lorraine’s familiar face absent, with This Morning’s Sian Welby stepping in.

Welby expressed to the audience that she felt “very lucky” to be hosting while Lorraine was on the mend. She shared a warm message, saying: “First though, before we get started obviously we want to wish Lorraine a speedy recovery.”

She continued with supportive words, mentioning: “You might have seen her post over the weekend. She’s been in hospital for an operation; I know she’s planning to be back here as soon as she can.”
