Zara McDermott shared a snap on social media which included a glimpse of one of Louis Tomlinson’s tattoos, cementing their relationship status after speculation
Louis Tomlinson’s rumoured love life has been the topic of speculation in recent weeks after being linked to reality star Zara McDermott. On Thursday, the star who found fame on Love Island shared a snap taken in Malibu of her breakfast but many noticed one of Louis’ tattoos in the upload.
Friends of Zara claim her romance with Louis is “very early days” after her split from Sam Thompson in December but she had been enjoying a string of “low-key” dates with the Headlines hitmaker.
Despite having a squeaky clean look when he first appeared on The X Factor, Louis has gone on to completely transform this and has decorated his body with dozens of tattoos and some of them have very sweet meanings and links to his time in One Direction. But what tattoos does Louis actually have?
Here, we take a look at some of his body art and the special meanings they have.
Ankle tattoos
While most peoples ankles are often covered, Louis has shared a glimpse at his on several occasions. Although many many quiver over having tattoos on the bony joints, Louis appeared to brave the pain and has two tattoos on his ankles. The singer actually has a small screw on one of his ankles.
He and his former bandmates, minus Niall, all had a screw tattooed on them to cement their legacy and incredibly close bond since they were put together. He also has another tattoo on each ankle with the words The Rogue across both. When asked by a fan what the meaning was behind the inking, he said: “It’s the name of the band I was in before One Direction.”
Right arm
Louis has near enough completed a full sleeve on his arm with several tattoos. These include, a bomb, stick figure, quotation marks, a paper aeroplane, a compass, a horse shoe, cup of tea and a compass. These, however, are not the only things. Louis also has the word “Oops,” which he explained was inked as he didn’t like another line on his arm.
Elsewhere, he has five tally marks which indicate his time with One Direction and his bandmates, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and the late Liam Payne.
He also has a camera, a tattoo of Earth, matchsticks, a knot, spiderweb, Pacman, noughts and crosses, his trademark smiley face and “Bus 1” – another reference to his time with One Direction. Above the noughts and crosses inking on his arm is a small cross, this is the tattoo which features in Zara’s Instagram Story upload, appearing to confirm the pair are an item and spending time in Malibu, in the US.
Louis also has a large fish tattooed on his forearm. But on the top of his arm, he has a huge stag – having previously explained that there’s “no reasoning” behind it “Wanted something big for my arm, that’s why I got it,” he told GQ Magazine. “I have a heart above it and this were a really bad tattoo before, this is the only cover-up I’ve ever had actually, this one.”
Left arm
Louis’ left arm is also decorated with stunning tattoos. On his wrist is a band that wraps around the circumference of his joint, decorated by a full deck of playing cards which he had inked on him during a trip to Los Angeles. Elsewhere, he has a skull and crossbones at the bottom of his arm.
But one large inking which is hard to miss on Louis’ forearm is a huge dagger which he had seen hundreds of times on people. “I was like I’ll have a bit of that,” he said. Alongside the dagger is the lyrics: “Given a chance,” which he says was sentimental to him.
Chest tattoos
Louis also has a string of impressive tattoos across his chest. Across his collar bones are the words: “It is what it is,” but he has never disclosed the meaning behind the stunning writing.
Across his pec is the the number 78. But when asked about the meaning behind the tattoo, Louis’ late mother, Johannah explained it had a very close connection to his heart. She previously explained: “For those who have asked me about the ’78’ tattoo on Louis chest… It was the house number of his Nan & Grandad who he adored.”
Other body parts
Louis also has the number 28 tattooed across his fingers which has a very sweet connection to his childhood love for Doncaster Rovers. During a charity match for the South Yorkshire team, Louis wore a football top with the number 28 on the back. But that’s not all, while performing, Louis has previously worn in-ear monitors with the number on too.
He also featured the number on a house which was seen in his Back To You music video. But elsewhere, he has a tattoo that fans have only been given a small glimpse of in the past. On his backside, Louis also has a penguin which he said was “comical.” Speaking about the inking, he said: “Just at times, I’m not going to lie, I can’t help but be a bit of a show-off, that was one of them moments, just to be funny and then I have to live with it.”
