A massive crash on M25 is causing congestion for travellers with a section of the motorway closed.

The motorway is closed anti-clockwise in Essex between J30 (Thurrock) and J29 (Upminster) due to the multi-vehicle collision. The crash has caused traffic to congest all the way back to junction 25 at Enfield. Roadworks in the area are contributing to the congestion, after the incident occurred at around 7.45am.

Images from the scene show one of the carriageways closed with emergency services at the scene. The opposite carriageway is also seeing congestion halfway back to junction 28, the A12 due to onlookers.

National Highways has stated that people should expect delays. It wrote on X: “The M25 in Essex is closed anti-clockwise between J30 (Thurrock) and J29 (Upminster) due to a multi-vehicle collision.
