Jay Howard was the first MAFS UK star with a disability, and has raged at ‘vile’ Katie Hopkins for a disturbing video in which she took aim at people with limb differences
Married at First Sight star Jay Howard has sent a firm message to Katie Hopkins. The Apprentice alum recently shared a vile video of herself offensively mocking people with limb differences on YouTube, and Jay made it clear she’d crossed the line with her “damaging behaviour”.
Jay, 32, was the first ever disabled contestant to appear on MAFS, and has now joined plenty of other celebs and influencers in slamming Katie’s inflammatory post.
On Instagram, Jay filmed herself as she stood at home, proudly revealing her limb difference in a casual t-shirt and vowing that she’d never hide herself to please people like Katie.
“I just want to address something – Katie Hopkins. I’ve been sent loads of your videos, you’re sat there mocking people with limb differences. Taking the p**s for your own engagement and your likes and your shares,” Jay introduced.
The Reach ambassador then included a clip from Katie’s cruel rant, as the 50-year-old repeatedly made gagging noises while talking about people’s “stumpy arms” and suggested they should be hidden away – while also complaining about children’s TV presenters with limb differences.
Jay blasted: “It’s absolutely disgusting, the videos that I’ve seen. Like I can take a joke, the majority of us can take a joke. But it’s when you’re sat there and you’re pretending to gag because it’s like you’re repulsed by the way that we look.
“Sorry we don’t look like you, hun. Unfortunately the world doesn’t work like that and everybody doesn’t look exactly the same.
“There are people out there with limb differences, and why should we be ashamed or try to hide away for narrow-minded people like you?”
Jay also brought up Katie’s military training, which came to an end when the Donald Trump supporter’s epilepsy was made clear before she could take up a commission.
Jay rightly pointed out that people in the military are often at risk of grave injury and amputations, while also asking if Katie would be “repulsed” by a future grandchild if it was born with a limb difference.
“I’m quite brutal with my banter to be honest, I can take the p**s out of myself, but for somebody else or for children specifically that’s really damaging,” she summarised, later pointing out at the end of the video that it’s Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month as she raised her arms in celebration and promised not to hide her own limb difference.
Alongside the video, she wrote: “Katie Hopkins, you vile ableist woman… do better. You should be ashamed of yourself. We exist, we matter and we aren’t going anywhere. Happy Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month.”
