A cleaning expert has revealed a game-changing hack for the best way to get rid of pesky watermarks from your furniture – and it’s so simple and takes just seconds

Removing water marks from furniture can seem challenging but, according to one cleaning expert, it really couldn’t be simpler and will only take you seconds to do.

There’s nothing worse than walking into your living room and noticing that someone has left a glass of water on your table without using a coaster, leaving an unsightly watermark on the wood. You might assume that the mark is there to stay, but actually there’s a nifty little hack that will allow you to remove the mark in just seconds.

Cleaning expert Lorna White tells Yours that it’s easier to remove watermarks and cup rings from furniture than you might think. She explains that she always likes to remove these marks ‘with a hairdryer’. She adds: “If someone hasn’t used a coaster and has marked your coffee table, use a hairdryer on it,” and adds that once you’ve dried the area with a shot of warm air, then next step is to add a little olive oil onto a dry microfiber cloth and then wipe it over the stained area.

Once the olive oil has been wiped over the watermark, Lorna reveals that the damage should be gone, with the piece of furniture looking as ‘good as new’ with no sign of water rings. It’s such a simple way to deal with the problem and, according to Lorna, it works seamlessly every time and takes just seconds to do.

What’s great about this hack is that you can use it on any piece of wooden furniture, and whether it’s sealed or unsealed it should work perfectly, removing the visible signs of damage.
