The ‘world’s cheapest beer’ has been found and it will cost you just 40p a pint, and with the average price of a pint in the UK now rising to £5.17, it means you can get 12 beers for the price of one
A man has discovered what may be the “cheapest beer in the world” – as you’d get plenty of change back from a £1 coin.
TikTok user @louiecarabott recently visited a venue where you can get “17 beers for the price of one”. He claims these are “the cheapest beers in the world,” so it’d be rude not to order one!
With the average price of a pint in the UK soaring past the £5 mark, those wanting a cheaper tipple may have better luck heading to Vietnam instead. At just 40p a pint, it’s hard to disagree with Louie’s theory that it’s the least expensive beer on the planet.
In his viral video, he gestured towards his bev and said: “I’ve got one here, it cost me 40p, so I thought why not buy two. Tastes pretty decent to be fair.
“You could literally have ten of them and not spend over £5. It’s mad cheap. In London, you’d be paying £7 a beer, it’s crazy. Out here, it’s 40p. It’s worth just getting the flight for the beer.
“Cost of living out here in south east Asia is crazy. I’ve just had a bill it cost me £2, the room I’m staying in is costing me £10 a night, like, the motorbike I’m renting is £3 a day. I literally spend no money down here.”
Louie furthered his comments on the cheap pints and cost of living by saying you would have to spend “an arm and a leg” to do the same in the UK.
The beer in question is sold everywhere in Vietnam as it is their “traditional beer” according to Louie. He said: “They sell it literally everywhere you go out here. Get yourself to Vietnam for the cheap beers.”
TikTok users were in disbelief at the price of the pints, with one writing: “Did you just say 40p for a beer?” Another stunned user added: “Double up on them.”
Those who had already taken advantage of the cheap pints were thrilled by the deal and were set to stay out there to continue using the offer for as long as they could. One wrote: “It’s ridiculously cheap here and I never want to live back home again.”
Why is beer so cheap in Vietnam?
Many of the beers consumed in Vietnam are produced locally, which reduces import taxes and transportation costs. Local ingredients and labour are also generally cheaper, contributing to lower production costs.
Bia Hoi is a type of draft beer that is brewed daily and consumed on the same day. It’s often served in small, local establishments and is extremely cheap due to its quick turnover, lack of packaging, and minimal production costs.
As well as this, Vietnam traditionally has lower taxes on alcohol compared to many other countries, which can make beer more affordable. However, it’s worth noting that the Vietnamese government has been considering increases in excise taxes on alcohol to address health concerns.
