A man made some incredible discoveries after taking his metal detector to a beach in Ibiza.

Spanish TikTok user @metalesbajolaarena has nearly 50,000 followers on the social media app, where he shares footage of what he finds with his metal detector.

He recently took his trusty device to a beachfront in Ibiza, and was left stunned by the treasures he managed to dig up in the popular tourist resort. He spent four hours combing the sand and, among the rubbish and old coins, found seven gold rings. One of which was 19-carat.

He captioned the video “thanks to the sea for all that it gives me” and said: “Well, this is what wanted to come out today on a beach that I have already squeezed. I’ve been there many days and it’s still giving me things.

“Here there is rubbish as always, but less and less. Some lead. Coins, as you can see, some foreign ones, some pesetas [old Spanish coins], five, 25, 100, 500, some euros, two euros, one euro, 20 cents, and the incredible amount of seven gold rings.

“These three are nine-carat. You can see it in the colour. These are 18-carat and this one is 19-carat. I’ve never pulled out a 19-carat ring before. It was cool and super entertaining. Four hours. See you next time.”

Carat is the measure of the purity of gold, with 24-carat being absolutely pure. 19-carat gold is 79.17% pure gold and 20.9% other metals. According to GoldPriceZ, 19-carat gold is worth £54 per gram in the UK.

The TikTok video has racked up thousands of views and hundreds of comments. One commenter asked the metal detectorist: “You don’t want to give it back, do you? Someone will be desperate to find their ring.” He responded: “When I know who it belongs to, otherwise it is impossible, especially here where 90% of the things are from foreigners.”
