A man prowling the streets wearing only a nappy allegedly approached an 11-year-old girl making fake baby gurgle sounds.

Police say that the man, Wesley Worl, 45, stepped out of his vehicle near a school in Tyler, Texas, and allegedly said “goo goo gaa gaa” before asking the young girl for a nappy change.

The man is facing a charge of criminal solicitation of a minor for the incident on Tuesday, July 29, according to PEOPLE. The child was riding her bike near Andy Woods Elementary school just before 6pm when Worl, wearing only a nappy and a dummy, approached the girl. It comes after a young girl has tragically died in another US state after allegedly being abused by her father and his girlfriend.

“I guess he had seen her riding her bicycle and had pulled in to kind of get ahead of her into the parking lot of the school,” Andy Erbaugh, public information officer with the Tyler Police Department, told the publication of the horrific nappy incident. “And when she approached on her bicycle, he jumped out and his words were ‘goo goo gaa gaa. I need you to change my diaper.'”

The child quickly ran off and went to some witnesses for help, according to reports. The witnesses knew the 11-year-old, according to police. “They contacted mom and dad who went over there. They called the police immediately,” Erbaugh said.

According to the officer, the girl is “quite shaken up about this obviously.” Following the incident, Worl returned to his truck and drove away, but one of the fast-thinking witnesses took down a partial number plate number. Police reportedly also have a video of his vehicle.

“We got a description of him, and we put two and two together and looked, found it was Wesley Worl, got warrants on him and arrested him,” Erbaugh said.

The 45-year-old man also charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass for a separate incident. He is being held on a $600,000 (£446,220) bond in Smith County Jail, according to local media.

It comes as a woman in the UK admitted to taunting “horrified” parents with rancid nappies and smearing faeces on nursery walls and bottles of milk.

Abbi Taylor pleaded guilty in April to three counts of dumping bags of toxic materials – nappies containing human waste – at nurseries in South Shields, South Tyneside. On Friday she was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, after the judge heard about her “particularly difficult time” in custody.

Newcastle Crown Court heard the 46-year-old local from Newmarket Walk had smeared faeces on milk bottles and the walls of a nursery, and had climbed in clinical waste bins for “comfort”.

She also admitted to stealing clinical waste bags from one business, and breaching a criminal behaviour order preventing her from entering within 10 metres of a nursery without reasonable excuse.
