Manchester United are looking to build on their four-game unbeaten run when they host West Ham this weekend, though boss Erik ten Hag remains under pressure of the sack

Manchester United face West Ham on Sunday with Erik ten Hag looking to build on his side’s four-game unbeaten run.

It has been a difficult season for the Dutchman, who has seen his job come under serious pressure. But he looks to be getting his side back on track, having beaten Brentford in the Premier League last weekend.

That game did have one major moment of controversy though, which has led to the FA charging coach Darren Fletcher with misconduct. Elsewhere, Ten Hag has also been forced to explain his decision to snub Amad in favour of Antony against Fenerbahce.

And the United boss has received a boost amid the injury crisis which has hit his defensive options. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United news.

Fletcher charged by FA

Manchester United coach Darren Fletcher has been charged with misconduct by the FA over his actions towards the match officials following the win over Brentford. Fletcher confronted the officials over the move to force Matthijs de Ligt off in the first-half.

In a statement the governing body said: “Darren Fletcher has been charged with misconduct following Manchester United ’s fixture against Brentford on Saturday, 20 October, in the Premier League.

“It’s alleged that the coach acted in an improper and/or confrontational manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official and the referee and/or assistant referees. Darren Fletcher has until Tuesday, 29 October, to respond.”

Fresh Yoro timeline revealed

Erik ten Hag’s defensive injury crisis at Manchester United will soon be eased by the return to full fitness of Leny Yoro. The summer signing is yet to make his competitive debut for United since joining the club for an initial fee of £52million from Lille.

The defender picked up a foot injury in a pre-season friendly against Arsenal in July and has been sidelined ever since. But he is now closing in on a return to full fitness, which will ease Ten Hag’s injury woes.

Yoro has been working hard on his rehabilitation and has now begun training on the grass at United’s Carrington training ground. United are conscious of rushing him back too soon, but he is expected to be fit enough to play by mid-November.

Ten Hag defends Amad snub

Manchester United manager Ten Hag defended his decision to bring on Antony against Fenerbahce instead of Amad. The Brazilian came on for Marcus Rashford 17 minutes from time, despite his leargely awful spell at Old Trafford.

Amad was left on the bench until he replaced Antony after the winger’s injury 10 minutes later. And Ten Hag indicated Antony ‘s performances in training were the reason the Brazilian came on ahead of his fellow winger.

“Amad, he is doing well, but I must also reward the performances of Antony in training,” Ten Hag said. “He is a threat almost every training session, so I felt in that moment the right thing to do was bring him on to decide the game.”
