Luke Shaw is ‘ready to quit’ Manchester United and willing to listen to offers from other clubs. The defender has spent more than a decade at Old Trafford but is open to an exit from the side as interest gathers in his signature.

Shaw, 30, appears ready to accept that his Red Devils career is coming to an end. The Southampton academy product is reported to be aware of ‘serious’ interest from Saudi Arabia.

The England international still has two years remaining on his contract and is in the United squad that travelled to the United States for their pre-season tour. Shaw will be in contention to face West Ham on Sunday and played against Leeds as Ruben Amorim’s side returned to action for pre-season.

Shaw will have to battle for his place in the team come the start of the season. While the full-back started in the Europa League final against Tottenham last term, he is set to face competition from the likes of Diogo Dalot, January arrival Patrick Dorgu and summer signing Diego Leon.

Dorgu is perhaps favourite to be Amorim’s first option at wingback for the new season. There are high hopes for £3.3million man Leon who joined from Cerro Porteno of Paraguay too.

The 18-year-old played in the opening half of the draw with Leeds and was praised by head coach Amorim. “He did really well,” said the Portuguese boss.

“He’s learning things, he’s powerful, he’s going to be a very good player.”

Amorim is said to be in no rush to lose Shaw from his squad, despite the injury-plagued star carrying £150,000-a-week wages. But the versatile defender is keen to secure playing time having missed out on a number of opportunities due to his injury record.

If Shaw decides to leave in the coming months, it appears unlikely that United would stand in his way. The defender has only made 27 appearances across the last two seasons.

The 13-times Premier League champions will hope to earn fees from the exits of the likes of Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia. United have already facilitated a move for Marcus Rashford but only on loan, despite wanting to bolster their transfer funds.

In addition to Leon, United have spent significant sums on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in a bid to revitalise the club’s forward line.
