Sunday’s win over Manchester City handed Ruben Amorim a welcome boost after a difficult start to his reign at Manchester United.
Amorim had struggled to turn around the Red Devils’ fortunes after replacing Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout. The January transfer window offers the perfect chance for Amorim to strengthen his squad.
But with two weeks still to go before it opens, Amorim has already been dealt a major blow. One of his top targets has made it clear he will not be moving to Old Trafford, with United now forced to explore alternatives.

Rashford learns fate
Marcus Rashford has been told to expect to leave Manchester United. The attacker was left out of the squad for Sunday’s derby win over Manchester City and Jamie Carragher believes a move away from Old Trafford is ‘inevitable’.
“We’re not talking about a world-renowned superstar here. I actually think we talk about Marcus Rashford too much, if I’m being totally honest. He’s a good player, he’s not a great player, he’s been a really good player for Manchester United,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“It is time for him to leave the club, but whether there’ll be any takers with the wages the lad’s on and things like that, who knows. I just think a parting of the ways is inevitable at some stage, and I think for Manchester United and Rashford, the quicker that comes, the better.”

Huge Antony loss predicted
Manchester United have been told to expect to make a £70m loss if they sell Antony in January. The winger looks set to depart after a miserable stay at the Red Devils and Chris Sutton believes it will be difficult to recoup the huge fee they paid for him.
“It’s a great, great point. I’d forgotten about him. Me too. And to be fair, who would, I mean, how much would he go for? What did he come in for?” Former Premier League title winner Sutton said.
“Was it 85? 80. 80 million pounds. How much could they, he would devalue more than I devalued in a year at Chelsea. I mean, 80. What would they, seriously, what would they get for Anthony now? £10m?”
Target delivers blow to Amorim
Juventus star Kenan Yildiz has insisted he is happy with life in Italy, amid links with a move to United. The Turkish star has impressed for Juve, drawing the attention of the Red Devils, though he has now claimed he has no plans to leave Turin.
“I’m happy at Juventus! Next year? I see myself here to fight for more titles as Juventus player. I’m very comfortable here,” Yildiz said.
“It’s a beautiful and serene city, and the people are kind and respectful. I can walk around downtown without any trouble. Sure, sometimes I get stopped for an autograph or a picture, but it’s pleasing.”
