An Instagram influencer has been mocked by locals and accused of not being aware of the reality of an island after he said he visited “one of the most beautiful coves” in the world

We all delight in jetting off to sun-soaked destinations.

Thankfully in this age of social media, there’s no shortage of travel influencers dishing out their holiday tips. But one Instagram star’s recent trip to “one of the most beautiful coves” in Spain has not quite hit the mark.

Ibiza was the latest stamp on travel buff Christian Delgado Fernández’s passport when he documented his journey to Cala Saladeta. In the post seen by his 417,000 followers, Christian gushed: “It is located on the wonderful island of Ibiza.

“It is accessed via a path and is known for its fine sand, crystal clear waters and for being surrounded by pure vegetation.”

However, instead of soaking up the love from his fans, Christian faced backlash, with some seriously unimpressed comments flooding in.

One user bluntly posted: “Don’t expect it to be empty!” while an irked local chimed in with: “Thanks to videos like this one, we Ibizans don’t enjoy the summer. Thanks to people like this, the magical essence of our island disappears.”

The critique didn’t stop there, with several locals going on to accuse the influencer of glossing over the real picture of their beloved spot.

Someone remarked: “But what jobs if there is a shortage of staff everywhere? It seems to me that you are poorly informed,” prompting Christian to respond that he’s well aware after working several summers.

Another chimed in with a critical view: “The fact that you have worked here for a few summers doesn’t make you aware of the reality we are living.

“The island is in chaos between lack of housing, lack of staff and tourist saturation. I’m not against your post, it’s the reality.” However, not all feedback was negative, as one admirer enthused: “I went in September and it was dope.”

Another supporter added: “Was there in April in the morning, almost alone, heaven.” A third fan shared their affection, saying: “My favourite.”
