Christian Eriksen is set to leave Manchester United this summer but the midfielder has been quick to rule out two potential destinations after claiming he still has several years left at the top
Christian Eriksen has confirmed he will leave Manchester United this summer and the Denmark midfielder has already ruled out two options for his next move. Old Trafford chiefs have decided not to offer Eriksen a new deal as Ruben Amorim looks to reshape his squad for next season.
And Eriksen, 33, believes he has several seasons left at the top level so is already ruling himself out of a move to Major League Soccer in the United States or the Danish domestic league.
Asked what his next move is, Eriksen said: “I don’t know yet. I haven’t made any firm decisions. Before my cardiac arrest, I played in England for years, moved to Inter, and thought I’d never return. Two years later, I was back in England, and now I’ve been here for almost four years.
“Careers don’t always follow a set plan. I don’t have a checklist of things I need to do—I’ll see what comes and what’s best for me and my family.”

But the former Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford player went on to say that neither MLS nor the Danish Superliga interest him right now.
Speaking to Danish outlet Tipsbladet.dk , he said of heading Stateside: “We won’t travel that far.”
And he will not be heading home either. “Not yet. It’s too early,” he continued. “I still feel like I have good years left abroad. In Denmark, players often return to focus on family and end their careers that way, but I don’t feel like I’m there yet.
“It’s purely about football and where my career stands now. Honestly, I’ve spent more time abroad than in Denmark during my career, so moving home would almost feel like moving to a new country. But we’re not there yet.”
On the flip side he is not ruling out a move to Ajax, another former club who were interested in re-signing him last summer, or heading back to Brentford.
Asked about going to Amsterdam, Eriksen said: “I’m not closing the door on anything. I’ll see what opportunities arise and whether they fit. That was last summer—we’ll see where they stand this summer. It’s not just up to me; there has to be interest from their side too.
“Whether it’s Brentford or not, I can’t say. But my intention isn’t to stay in England.”
“This situation is different from when I was a free agent after my cardiac arrest. Back then, it was about proving I could still play. Now, it’s just about waiting for the right opportunity and not making hasty decisions. If something feels right, I’ll take it.”
