And for those who spend more than £30 at M&S this season, they’ll be able to qualify for the retailer’s beauty advent calendar deal
Marks and Spencer shoppers have been snapping up a ‘very slimming’ and ‘flattering’ skirt that’s going to be ideal for autumn and winter styling. The high street retailer’s green Gingham Midi A-Line Skirt is a fresh take on a sell-out style sold by the chain earlier in the year, updated with a new colour palette for the season.
Initially launched earlier this year in a cream and black pattern, the skirt quickly sold out and has been all over my social media feeds ever since. The retailer also previously offered a blue and black version.
Now, it’s been reimagined for autumn in an all-over green and black gingham check which shoppers have declared as ‘perfect for Christmas’. Priced at £40, it won’t put too much of a dent in wallets, either.

The print feels new for the season but still timeless enough to last well beyond the ‘-ber’ months. Crafted in a regular fit with an A-line cut, it falls to a midi length that’s perfect for both everyday wear and smarter occasions.
A soft, elasticated waistband makes it comfortable enough to wear all day, while the structured A-line shape gives it a polished, flattering finish. It’s a clever transitional piece that pairs well with everything from knits and boots to lighter tops and trainers as the seasons shift, reports Yorkshire Live .
How to get the M&S beauty advent calendar
Shoppers can get the M&S beauty advent calendar for £60 when they spend £35 or more on full-price fashion, homeware or beauty. nside are 25 products, eight of which are full sizes, with a combined value of £330 from top brands from the M&S beauty hall, including Prai, Estée Lauder, Living Proof, Weleda, Clinique and more.
Green gingham is turning heads on the high street this month, with ASOS offering a Neon Rose tiered check midaxi skirt for £45 . Made from 100% cotton, it’s ideal for teaming with chocolate knee boots and an oversized knit.
Alternatively, Beyond Nine offers a stunning green gingham co-ord with their Mabel Linen Trousers , £125, and Esme Linen Top , £65 for a coordinated look. Similar to both of the aforementioned skirts, the trousers boast an elasticated waistband which is perfect for anyone experiencing bloating or who simply prefers a flexible fit.
The M&S skirt, meanwhile, has already garnered numerous five-star reviews from customers. One particularly praised its easy-care fabric which doesn’t need ironing. They commented: “You feel amazing in this. Fits like a glove. Very slimming. I have a similar one in brown. Washes well, no iron is a bonus. Definitely recommend. Value for money”.
Another said: “Really lovely skirt. Great colours and fit. The elasticated top makes this skirt really comfortable to wear. I was downcast to see the model in the photo was so tall and in a size 8 so I was really pleased to see this came as a petite size so I didn’t have to have the hem taken up four inches. Looks great with boots and a black jumper. I’ve had loads of compliments each time I have worn it. Well done MandS.”
Some had wished that the autumn version of the skirt came in a thicker fabric for the cooler months, though, noting: “Love this skirt, style, colour and fit, just a little disappointed not a more weightier material for autumn/winter, I’ll maybe save until spring! I chose petite length and it’s just mid calf on me at 5’4.”
Meanwhile, another satisfied customer said: “Another great purchase. It caught my eye and I was so glad I bought it. Perfect for Christmas season and really flattering.”
What’s more is that, it also has a matching top available for £38 , which gives the co-ord the illusion of a dress. The short-sleeve, round neck top boasts a shirred bodice which M&S says ‘flatters the figure’, while the all-over checked pattern ensures an eye-catching finish.
An additional perk of the M&S skirt is that, as it’s priced at £40, shoppers are eligible to purchase the retailer’s beauty advent calendar for a reduced price. Valued at £330, it’s discounted to £60 when customers spend £35 on full-priced fashion, beauty or home items.
With 25 products inside, shoppers can pamper themselves with self-care brands like Bloom and Blossom, L’Occitane, Floral Street and This Works, as well as skincare and makeup from Emma Hardie, Prai Beauty, Stila, Clinique and Benefit – just to mention a few.
