A huge fire has broken out in a major European city, shuttering a local airport and pouring smoke across miles of sunkissed countryside.
Videos posted on social media show massive plumes of smoke arising from Marseille Forest in Marseille, France, where a fire has broken out near the community’s local airport, according to eyewitnesses. Locals have said the airport in the popular holiday destination, has been closed, and helicopters can be seen circling around the fire.
Flights have been diverted to Nice, another hotspot, while the emergency response is ongoing.
