Former EastEnders star Martin Kemp – who is known for being a member of the group Spandau Ballet – has recalled a unusual experience from when he was much younger
Former soap star Martin Kemp has shared that he believes he avoided serious injury thanks to a “voice” that he heard in his head when he was younger, it’s been revealed.
The Spandau Ballet member and former EastEnders actor has recalled the apparent experience from when he was a child. Recounting the experience, as reported by the Daily Star, Martin, now 63, said: “I must have been about 12 years old, and I was walking to school. I came out my front door and stopped by a roadside.” He continued: “As I stopped, I heard a voice in my head, like somebody talking to me, not a thought, literally a voice, and it said, ‘Go back inside the house’. I didn’t even blink.”
Martin went on to share: “I turned round and started walking back up the pathway, and as I walked back up, a car came down the road and smashed into the two cars I was standing in between.” Reflecting on the experience, he pointed out: “That’s a fact. It’s [up to you] whether you believe me saying that about the voice!”
It’s been teased that Martin didn’t received a warning when he reportedly embarrassed himself in front of David Bowie years later, when he met the fellow singer. Remembering the experience, as reported by the outlet, he explained: “I thought, I’ve got to go over and shake his hand. But it was the end of the night, so I was a little bit worse for wear. As I shook his hand, I started to do the sideways crab. I fell over and landed up against the wall. He just looked down at me and tutted.”
Now, Martin and his wife Shirlie Kemp, who found fame with Wham! in the 1980s, are teaming up with easyJet holidays. The couple are launching the airline’s Rekindle The Romance package deal.
