Marvin Harrison Jr has been handed the number 18 jersey by the Arizona Cardinals, after the wide receiver was selected with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft

Marvin Harrison Jr has revealed his jersey number for his debut season with the Arizona Cardinals.

Rather than following in his father’s footsteps by donning the #88 jersey, he’s chosen to stick with the number 18, which he wore during his time at Ohio State.

The Cardinals reportedly rejected multiple offers for their third pick in the NFL Draft, choosing instead to select Harrison Jr. Teams were keen to trade up to select a quarterback, but the Cardinals didn’t want to risk losing the promising receiver. He’s now set to be Kyler Murray’s main target from his rookie season.

Despite completing his first practice session with the Cardinals and being introduced to the press after the first round of the draft, fans are still unable to buy his official jersey.

Harrison Jr is yet to sign his NFLPA contract – a standard agreement for rookies entering the NFL. This contract allows players to market their own name, image and likeness to over 80 companies. As a result, fans can’t purchase official ‘Harrison Jr 18’ jerseys from the Cardinals shop. He also can’t participate in a large number of marketing deals or feature in the Madden NFL video game on Playstation, Xbox and other consoles.

Harrison Jr has however inked a deal with Fanatics, following several marketing agreements with various firms. Fanatics now have the rights to sell his Cardinals jersey, albeit without the Nike logo.

The Cardinals’ wide receiver is anticipated to renegotiate his contract with Fanatics, but he hasn’t hinted at signing his NFLPA contract yet.

Regarded as the best prospect in his position for years, Harrison Jr was always predicted to be a top-five pick in the draft after two stellar seasons with Ohio State, boasting 28 touchdowns and 2,400 receiving yards.

As the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison, he enters the league with high expectations. He’s set to become the Cardinals’ number one receiver, with the team planning to build their offence around Murray and Harrison Jr.

The Cardinals had two first-round draft picks after trading with the Houston Texans last year, adding pass-rusher Darius Robinson to their defensive line along with Harrison Jr to close out the first round.
