Mary J Blige has promised to ‘burn bridges as needed’ in a cryptic Instagram post seemingly taking a swipe at Diddy. The duo shared a close relationship over the last 30 years

Mary J Blige has taken a swipe at Diddy and promised to “burn bridges”.

The 53-year-old queen of R&B took to Instagram shortly after two of Diddy’s homes had been raided by federal agents. The 54-year-old rapper has been slammed by numerous allegations of physical and sexual abuse in recent months but maintains his innocence and is adamant he will clear his name.

Diddy – whose real name is Sean Combs – has worked with numerous top-tier artists throughout his career, including Notorious BIG, Usher, Lil Kim, and Mary J. Diddy helped to produce Mary J’s first two albums and the duo have enjoyed a close relationship over the years – but it looks like that is about to change.

Despite their 30-year friendship, the Grammy-winning artist appeared to speak up against Diddy in a cryptic Instagram post. Speaking to her 6.8 million followers, Mary J wrote: “Unfortunately, a lot of you all met me when I lacked boundaries and was a people pleaser.”

Presenting an older and wiser version of herself, the Family Affair singer claimed she was not scared to end relationships. She continued: “Let me reintroduce myself, I burn bridges as needed.”

Mary J.’s fans were split over the post. While some commended her for not being afraid to cut people out of her life, others insinuated she was “throwing Diddy under the bus”.

While one commented: “Yesssssss! The people who don’t respect boundaries shouldn’t be a part of your life! Period,” another disagreed: “Watch everybody throw each other under the bus, when they all knew what was going on, but now they want to speak up?!”

Four women – including Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura – have filed lawsuits against Diddy towards the end of last year, accusing him of physical and sexual abuse. Producer and one of Diddy’s former employees Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a similar lawsuit in February, accusing Diddy of sexual assault in legal docs obtained by The Mirror.

Diddy issued a statement in December denying the allegations. Vowing to clear his name, he said: “Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged.”
