Maura Higgins commented on a Danny Jones Instagram post which, amid the saga around the BRITS afterparty kiss, has caused quite the stir on the social media site
Maura Higgins has faced a backlash on Instagram after leaving Danny Jones a cryptic comment.
The TV personality and the McFly singer were snapped sharing a kiss at a BRITS afterparty. A source at the event, which followed the glitzy ceremony at London’s O2 Arena, said: “They looked like they had a brief drunken kiss.”
Maura and Danny, who were in I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! together last year, are said to have grinned as they were photographed leaving the venue alongside former co-star Oti.
Now, an Instagram comment left by Maura’s account on Danny’s around one week ago has caused a stir on social media. The 34-year-old TV star posted two applauding emojis and a black heart one under the musician’s post last Tuesday, in which he says he is looking forward to performing again.
Following the kiss saga, Instagram users were quick to blast Maura, who last month split with Pete Wicks, of The Only Way Is Essex fame. People tagged Maura alongside vomiting emojis and others left rantings of frustration.
Maura did not offer further detail to her cryptic post, which she wrote several days before the BRITS. Eagle-eyed Instagram users spotted this, though, after the event and controversy.
One posted: “Oh Maura…” Another shared: “Oh dear…” Both of these users – and others – tagged the former Love Island star, of Ballymahon, County Longford, but she is yet to respond.
Another said: “Not cool” with a series of emojis, including three “thumbs-down” graphics. One Instagram user posted: “Oh dear very disappointing” among the string of comments.
But Danny, who has been married to model Georgia Horsley for ten years, has also faced criticism amid the scandal. The 38-year-old singer, who won I’m a Celeb last year, was blasted on social media too.
One commented: “Then he went and cheated on his wife.” Another echoed: “Wtf Danny. You are married with a child. Fans are meant to respect you but how can they when you don’t even respect yourself.” Someone else added: “Oh Danny you had it all man.” Another fan defended Danny, as they wrote: “Omg EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP! These are people lives. Leave them alone.”
