The former Love Island star took a step away from the limelight following her drunken kiss with married McFly singer Danny Jones
Maura Higgins has returned to TV after a period of laying low following her kiss with McFly singer Danny Jones. Last month Maura and Danny hit headlines after they were spotted kissing at the BRITs award’s afterparty. This came as a shock as 39-year-old Danny has a wife, Georgia, and a seven-year-old son named Cooper.
In the midst of the scandal, Maura got on a plane and fleed the country. The former Love Island star jetted off to Los Angeles, California, where she kept a low cover, frequently stepping out in sunglasses and hoodies.
Maura shared a photo from inside the plane on her Instagram story, hours after reports claimed she and Danny had partied together until 6am at the bash.
The snap saw Maura’s point of view from a luxurious British Airways plane, the photo shows the view of a runway from through a small plan window while a table next to the window can be seen, which has an iPad, headphones and a glass of wine resting on.
Now Maura, who is back in the UK, is gearing up for the release of her new TV role.
The 34-year-old is set to star in an upcoming episode of Blankety Blank, accoridng to The Sun. On the BBC game show, Maura will make her debut, back into TV, as a contestant.
A source told the publication: “Since that unfortunate incident, Maura’s kept to modelling jobs and posting glossy social media videos, but this will be her first TV appearance.
“She’s opening herself up to ribbing and scrutiny, but the BBC has ensured the drunken kiss stays off-limits because it’s a family show.”
Maura and Danny met last year in the I’m A Celeb jungle. Though the pair were friendly, nothing transpired of this. Danny went on to win the series and wife Georgia had flown down to Australia to be the first one to reunite with him at the famous bridge.
As of recent, Maura has reportedly ‘blanked’ Danny Jones on their ‘I’m A Celeb’ group chat.
On March 12, Danny celebrated his 39th birthday and his I’m A Celebrity co-stars reportedly wished him a happy birthday in their WhatsApp group chat.
“No one really ever speaks in it but on Danny’s birthday, everyone was pinging him a message in there,” an insider said to The Sun. “Maura didn’t send a message, which isn’t surprising.”
Last month, it was reported that the drunken kiss had put a massive strain on Danny’s marriage to former Miss England Georgia. The report suggested that the model had moved out of their shared family home and was spending time with a friend in London.
Georgia has since moved back into their home and the pair are reportedly trying to move past it.
