The Wanted star Max George took to social media to share a health update with his followers, revealing he will be undergoing heart surgery
The Wanted star Max George revealed he will undergo emergency heart surgery.
The 36-year-old singer candidly revealed earlier this month that he could be spending the Christmas weeks in hospital after he was forced to seek medical aid for his heart. He has since been updating fans with his progress and on Sunday shared a short clip of himself laying in bed while looking at his heart rate.
Last week, he also told fans he might need a pacemaker to fix a problem with the “lower part of his heart”. On his Instagram Stories, he filmed a video from the hospital and said that he has an issue with the ‘bottom of his heart’, ‘called a block’. He added that he had to undergo further tests.
And now, the star shared a photo of himself surrounded by wires and medical equipment while giving the camera a thumbs up. He said he might possibly get home for Christmas. He wrote: “Had a little day trip today. Full CT scan on my heart. Not something I’d choose to do again! As I mentioned yesterday, I have a 2:1 block in my heart. Unfortunately my heart rate hasn’t picked up at all in almost a week.
“Because of this, we don’t have too much time to wait so it looks like I’m going to be in surgery way quicker than the doctors first thought. I may even be home for Christmas! Still a pretty scary time right now and the last few nights have been really rough, but I wanted to say that I’m absolutely humbled by all your messages of support.
“Both people I know and those i don’t. It’s given me a much-needed boost and my family have been overwhelmed with support, which means more to me than anything.” Max’s mum previously opened up about what happened and told fans: “Max is in the hospital right now and he’s being very well taken care of. I took him to A&E this week where he was looked at.”
“He is in the best place he can possibly be right now. He’s very grateful for all the well-wishes from his fans and he’s got all his friends and family around him too. They have done some tests to see what the best management will be going forward,” she divulged of his current status.
When Max first revealed his health scare on Thursday, he described: “Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken into hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart. I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet. It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support by my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place.”
