The 24-plate BMW XM has been left badly damaged after a couple, who had just landed from a holiday, allege a meet and greet parking firm crashed the vehicle and dumped it in a hedge

A couple were left in shock after returning from their holiday to find their brand new £157,000 BMW allegedly crashed by a ‘meet and greet’ parking firm at Manchester Airport. The pair reportedly discovered their 24-plate BMW XM badly damaged and lodged in a hedge near the airport on Saturday afternoon, following their flight back from the Czech Republic.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, claim that the parking company crashed their hybrid petrol-electric car when they called for it to be brought around, and that the firm neither apologised nor disclosed the vehicle’s location. Their daughter, who was not present during the incident, told Manchester Evening News: “When they landed, they called to say they were ready for their car. But 45 minutes later there was no car and they called again.

“They said another car had gone into their car and to get a taxi home. They wouldn’t give the location. They called the police and the police told them the location.”

The couple, hailing from Stoke-on-Trent, took a taxi to Mill Lane near the junction with Castle Mill Lane in the Cheshire village of Ashley, where they found their damaged car.

The daughter added: “They were really upset. They really loved that car. When their grandchildren went into it, they had to take their shoes off. The company just didn’t care and they didn’t even say sorry or that they would drive them home. They only found out where it was from the police.”

Her dad expressed heartache, saying: “That car means everything to me.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

When the Manchester Evening News reached out to the firm purportedly named Secure Parking Manchester via the mobile number given to the couple, a man responded after learning of the alleged accident claiming a company representative had crashed the car: “I will pass it onto the office. They deal with the complaints’ side and they will give you a call back mate.”

Unfortunately, no callback was forthcoming. The M.E. N. also emailed the contact address supplied to the pair by the business yet failed to receive any reply. A Cheshire Police rep confirmed that officers were alerted by Greater Manchester Police about an incident involving a BMW smashing into a hedge on Mill Lane at 1.53pm on Saturday February 22.

A spokesperson confirmed: “There were no reports of any injuries, and the vehicle was recovered from the scene.” They also disclosed that responders attended to a vehicle in a ditch, stating the driver showed a negative result for alcohol, and confirmed no arrests were made. Neither authority alluded to the presence of a second vehicle in the mishap.
