The Duchess of Sussex has shared an update on her Instagram Stories of her time today at the Invictus Games, shortly after it was revealed she would be flying home solo today

Meghan Markle has broken her silence after leaving Prince Harry at the Invictus Games to fly home.

The Duchess of Sussex took to her Instagram Stories to share a video with her 1.7 million followers of her and Harry holding hands, wrapped up warm and walking in the snow, at an event today in Whistler, Vancouver. In their last appearance before she leaves to fly home to California, a glamorous Meghan wore cream boots, a long black coat, a knitted beanie and dark sunglasses as she joined in the sporting activities at the Games.

Following the clip of her and Harry walking from behind, Meghan shared a lighthearted video of her preparing to take part in tubing, which involves sitting on a rubber ring and going down a snow run. The Duchess appeared nervous and said she was too scared to do it, but after encouragement from Harry, she let go and hurtled down the slope.

Meghan can be heard letting out a scream as Harry giggles behind the camera and reminds her to keep her feet up. The social media snaps came hours after it was revealed Meghan will be flying home today in order to get back to their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilbet. Harry has now been left solo at the Games and was spotted handing out medals to the winning competitors today.

Meghan, 43, has spent five days at the multi-sport competition after arriving in Vancouver alongside Harry, 40, on Friday afternoon. Aides kept her travel plans under wraps for security reasons, but it is understood it had always been planned she would leave the event today. Harry is expected to stay at the Games until after the closing ceremony this Sunday.

Meghan was with her husband for the first few days of the competition where they put on a loved-up display as they attended various events of the sporting tournament that champions injured servicemen and women. She was at Harry’s side during the opening ceremony in Vancouver, where they smooched in the stands.

The Duchess has been using her newly-launched Instagram account to document her time at the Games, with a string of Instagram stories showing her meeting the children of competitors and whizzing through the stadium during the open ceremony on a golf buggy. Yesterday, they were seen sinking beers as they watched winter sports in Whistler before Harry was heard teasing his wife during a speech where he invited her on stage and joked that she was going to sing for them.

But today, it was confirmed she has headed back to the couple’s children, who have stayed behind in California. Earlier in the week, she admitted to competitors that she was missing Archie and Lilibet. Cynthia Phelps, 39, her husband James, 44, and their baby Laramie, seven months, all from Alaska, had breakfast with Meghan and Harry at their hotel in Vancouver on Saturday.

Cynthia then spoke to Meghan again after a wheelchair basketball match on Sunday, when Meghan tenderly cradled Laramie in her arms. Cynthia said: “I was just talking to Meghan about her kids. She said her kids were at home and she missed them and she was excited to see a baby that was so happy. She said she misses them and remembers when they were young. She said [Laramie] was a very happy baby.”

The Invictus Games runs until Sunday with a huge closing ceremony featuring peformances by Jelly Roll and the Bare Naked Ladies. Harry will remain in Canada for the duration of the Games, where he is expected to give a speech as it comes to a close. Harry, a former British Army captain, launched the Invictus Games in 2014 as an international sports tournament for injured service personnel and veterans.
