The Duchess of Sussex, 38, hasshared a video on her Instagram account on Wednesday following the devastating wildfires in LA
Meghan Markle has shared a heartfelt video on her Instagram in response to the tragic wildfires in LA.
The Duchess of Sussex appears visibly moved, almost to tears, as she discusses a young victim of the fires.
Meghan begins by saying to the camera: “I was just told that something arrived that I had been waiting for.”
The former Suits actress then begins recounting the tale of how she and Prince Harry met a woman and her 15-year-old daughter, whose house had burned down, when the estranged royal pair paid a visit to Altadena, California, after the terrible Los Angeles fires.
Meghan said: “Her mum shared something with me and said that when they came back to see their house for the first time, which is as we were meeting them, that all that she’d been looking for in her home was the T-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had just gone to that she left in the washing machine or the dryer.”

Devastatingly, the mother and daughter’s home and washing machine and dryer have all been turned to ash, reports the Express.
Meghan opened up about her heartfelt efforts to support the young fan and her mother, expressing her gratitude in the touching video.
She excitedly recounts: “I thought of everybody that I knew and I made a voice note and I was like please can someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish.”
Revealing the fruits of her endeavour, she shows off signed memorabilia and a lunch box from the pop sensation, admitting: “You guys, I don’t even know what all this stuff means, but it’s signed for her.”
In a sincere sign-off, Meghan extends her thanks to those who pitched in to bring joy to the girl, saying: “Huge thank you, Billie Eilish. This is going to mean so much to her, and honestly to Adam Levine and Behati, you guys helped get this over the line to everyone who’s showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what’s happened in California.”
She concludes with heartfelt appreciation: “Just thank you so much. I’m going to go and email her mum now. Just wanted to share that with you guys.”
Prince Harry and Meghan have been working to support the Southern California communities impacted by the devastating wildfires.
Through their own Archewell Foundation, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made donations and donated clothing, kids’ items and other essentials.
And they previously made a plea to followers with a heartfelt statement on their website, writing: “In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighbourhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life.”
The royal couple, who stepped away from royal duties in 2020 to forge their own life in the US, now live in the exclusive California neighbourhood of Montecito.
They have also posted a series of links on their Sussex.com website to various charities people can help with, and urged people to “open their homes” to those evacuated.
