Thames Valley Police have issued an update following a Christmas Day knife attack in Milton Keynes in which two people were killed and two others were injured – it was previously reported that a dog also died after the attack
Police have issued an update after a Christmas Day stabbing in Milton Keynes in which two women were killed and two other people, as well as a dog, were injured.
Thames Valley Police confirmed a 49-year-old man, from Milton Keynes, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Two women, aged 24 and 38, died at the scene. A teenage boy and a man aged in his late 20s suffered serious injuries, but are now in stable conditions in hospital.
Thames Valley Police later confirmed Jazwell Brown, 49, of Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley, has been charged with; two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count each of possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. Police also confirmed the identities of the two women who died as Joanne Pearson, 38 and Teohna Grant, 24.
Thames Valley Police said it had originally reported that the dog which had been injured in the incident had died, but in an update have confirmed it survived the attack.
A witness who saw the aftermath of the incident told The Mirror: “There was a dog which is a bit like a Staffy running around the estate for an hour and a half covered in blood. It went in my friend’s porch and there was a pool of blood.”
Officers were called to the scene at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.
A large cordon was in place at the scene on Thursday and a forensics team could be seen walking up the stairs of a block of flats. Numbered yellow evidence markers and first aid kits were visible on the road and pavement outside the address, and on the boot of a car parked on the adjoining Trinidad Grove.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin, of the major crime unit, said: “Firstly I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the families of the women who have tragically died in this shocking incident. We have launched a double murder investigation which may be concerning to the wider public, however we have made an arrest and are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and the parties are known to each other.
“Members of the public will see a large police presence in the area while our investigation takes place.
