Police arrested Ramos, who has been charged with attempted murder and is being held in custody. It later emerged that the head and teacher had clashed over 15 deductions made to his wages for unauthorised absences from school.

After the head told Ramos there was nothing he could do to reinstate the money, the teacher went to the school kitchen and returned with a knife.
