The company only opened the Conwy location on the former Adventure Parc Snowdonia last March, and now it has been closed to the public in a move to owners said they did not ‘take lightly’

A well-loved adventure park has declared it will ‘cease operations’ at one of its North Wales locations.

Zip World’s owners have announced that its Conwy site will close, via a Facebook post on January 21, after giving the matter “careful consideration”, according to Wales Online. The company had only launched the Conwy site, previously known as Adventure Parc Snowdonia, last March. It offered five adventures, including climbing walls, ninja assault courses, soft play and a high wire course.

This was their fourth location in North Wales, supplementing their adventure sites in Betws-y-Coed, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Penrhyn Quarry at Bethesda. In a statement, the company said: “After much careful consideration, we have made the decision to cease operations at Zip World Conwy.

“This was not a choice we took lightly, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our guests and supporters who have made the site such a special indoor adventure destination throughout 2024. If you have an existing booking at Zip World Conwy, our team will be in touch with options this week.

“We look forward to welcoming you to our other nearby Zip World locations and continuing to provide unique and exciting experiences for years to come.”

Fans of the park expressed their disappointment at the news. “So sad,” wrote one user on Facebook. “We’ve had three lovely family holidays at this site, staying in the hotel and enjoying the on site activities. Such a lovely bright and modern facility and great base in a beautiful part of the world.

“But for some reason it just didn’t seem to take off and cover its costs and has struggled over a number of years…”

Despite the news of the Conwy closure, the company is set to expand to new locations. They recently revealed Zip World London at the Olympic park, which is scheduled to open its doors on Valentine’s Day. The London site will feature the UK’s largest sculpture — the ArcelorMittal Orbit — as well as ‘Helix’, which will be the the world’s biggest tunnel slide. At 76m high, visitors will travel at speeds of up to 15mph, turning 12 times around the iconic sculpture before reaching ground level.

At the very top of ArcelorMittal Orbit there will also be a 360-degree viewing deck at 80 metres high. On a clear day, visitors will be able to see as far as 20 miles into the distance.

Andrew Hudson, Zip World CEO, said: “This is just the start for Zip World in London, and we can’t wait to welcome both locals and thrill-seekers from around the world. We’ve got many more epic adventures lined up that will redefine urban excitement in the heart of the city. We’ll continue working closely with LLDC as we expand our off world-class experiences to bring something truly unique to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.”
