Kelly Arvan shared her “genius” nappy hack to get kids out of the car when someone has parked too close – and it should help to prevent you scratching any motors parked nearby

Many of us hold our breath as we attempt to get out of tight parking spaces. There is that fear you’ll end up scratching your car – or someone else’s!

Thankfully though, there are ways to reduce the risk of this happening. A woman has been hailed a “genius” after she shared a little trick to avoid the embarrassment altogether.

In a viral video that amassed more than 15,000 likes, Kelly Arvan shared her savvy low-cost solution. “If you’re ever parked too close to a car next to you, you need this hack in your life,” she said.

The clever mum, from Australia, revealed she was in a tight squeeze next to another car. She faced the potential difficulty of retrieving her child without bumping into the adjacent vehicle.

So to combat this, she whipped out a nappy and strategically placed it as a buffer between her car door and the neighbouring motor.

Continuing her step-by-step guide, she assured: “When I want to get my baby out the car I use a nappy. The door does not scratch the car next to you, and the car next to you does not put paint on yours. Now I can get him out.”

With the price of nappies at Tesco running about £11 for a pack of 80, Kelly’s single-nappy hack costs a mere 14p. For those without a spare diaper on hand, the quick-thinking mum suggests an alternative household item: “I use a nappy, you can use a sock” she claims.

However, the reaction on TikTok was mixed, as users swiftly hit the comments to weigh in with their thoughts. One user said: “I usually use my hand and my husband gets him but this is less painful.” Another added: “That’s so smart, never thought of that.”

Meanwhile, a third commented: “Can you tell everyone in my town this hack please, my car is full of door scratches.” But a fourth argued: “Or just park properly using your mirrors.”
